I don't know about you, but all this video shows me is some nut lurking behind a bush who comes out screaming insanely at a bunch of kids and daring them to take a swing at his protruding chin, until he's dragged away by the police, still screaming wildly and hoping to provoke somethin'. (And right there at the end, his body posture almost looks like he's been placed in a straight jacket, adding to the overall "crazy man" effect.)

I'm sure this video makes him a hero to the CPACers inside, but out here in the real world, disgraced conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart just comes off like he's lost control of his faculties...

YMMV, but I think the crazy old boy ought to... what's the phrase?... "beHAAAAAVE himself," in future... (and stop raping the truth, while he's at it.)

It makes 'em all look kinda petty, if ya ask me... Lotta smoke, but virtually no flame. Hopefully if they ever do debate, they all find their way out of the third grade mentality, first.

That said, it doesn't acquit either Spencer or Geller on the bigotry of accusing virtually every Muslim they've ever spoken about of "ties to terrorism." I can't say for certain that they're wrong about Khan, in particular... ...though the guy was vetted by our government, under a Republican president. But that, and the fact that they seem to charge a whole lotta other Muslim Americans of the same sort of "ties," (or alternatively, support for, if not actual, honor killing) makes the charges kinda suspect... (It's almost as though they think Muslim Americans have divided loyalties... ...which is generally supposed to be some anti-Semitic attack on Jews...)

Yeah, Griper, that "repsac" guy just stinks, dud'ne?

While I'm sure there must be some truth to what you say, Gripe, what happened in this case was different than the arguments I had with most folks, most times... Only speakin' for and about myself here, I kinda lost sight of the difference between arguing the point and arguing the man somewhere along the way... ...and I'm trying to fix it.

So, you can certainly pile on and denounce my bad behavior in this situation if you choose (I can't say as I disagree, even), but there was more to it than one blogger quoting another's post and debating ideas, which is pretty common all throughout the political blogosphere (and what happened betwixt you and I a few times, as I recall.) The situation Stogie wrote about became a "him against me" personality-driven, nasty-ass grudge match, which isn't so common--not even in my blogging, and not even when I was opposing others (and that includes you, Griper, my friend)--and I'm trying to jump on the wagon and not do that no more...

I can't undo the past... I can only go forward from here...

After a whole lotta reflection, I'm giving up. Throwing in the towel. I'm forfeiting the game, and letting Dr. Douglas take home the trophy, such as it is...

While our friend Donalde is welcome to make any heroic claims he wants about his victory and the reasons for it, the fact is, this has been building for awhile.
What started out as one thing became another. In some ways, I started behaving like my opponent--mostly by thinking all this personal bullshit actually mattered, and believing that my online worth was somehow tied into "winning" this competition, but also in some of the actions I took--and I was having more trouble squaring who I wanted to be with who and how I actually was. There came a point where my heart wasn't in it anymore, but I felt roped in in general, and that I had no choice but to defend myself and my honor when attacked, especially.

There have been a few people, words, and incidents (or some combination thereof) that have brought me to the post I'm making, here...

This whole legal fiasco of Donald's has a lot to do with it, but not for the reasons he will likely claim. I'll get to that, below.

But even before that, there was:

1) the general decline in posting by all of the authors, here... Whether spoken or unspoken, our hearts just weren't in it, anymore... I suspect we all had our reasons, but we all pretty much slowed to a crawl (except me, but only when legalistically defending myself against attacks...)

2) This comment from xpatPHD (or "splat," according to my spellcheck) about the place lacking in the fun it used to have, was also instrumental. It made a whole lotta sense (even if I never was one of the fun ones, really... I still maintain I'm the cute one in the group, but opinions differ.) While stupid pride and the feeling that I had to defend my good name kept me posting those legalistic tour duh forces (yeah, I know...) anyway, I knew he was right...

3) I found myself spending more time AFTK in that big scary real world, or online AFTP (away from the politics), reading music blogs, literary sites, and all manner of nerdy, fun, non-confrontational whatnot... ...and 1) really enjoying it, and 2) not giving a thought to this confrontational bullshit. Like it wasn't even there.

There were probably a few other "pre-legal freakout" factors, but I can't think of 'em just now. Even so, I'm sure they were just as special and life-changing...whatever they may've been....

And then came Donalde's freakout, culminating (so far, and so far as I know, anyway) in his visits to the Irvine Police, and his congressman...

Though it's very likely that Dr Douglas will claim otherwise, it isn't about my fearing the awesome american power that is him, himself, or my facing up to my supposed "crimes," but yes, the fact that Donald Douglas actually walked into a police station (& perhaps more than one, as well as a congressman's office, and maybe a DOJ or FBI office, taboot) to complain because someone was submitting comments to his moderated blog against his wishes did affect me. To put it plainly, I realized that Donald Douglas is fucking disturbed in a way that I just hadn't seen, before. (People told me, going clear all the way back to Octopus in 2008 or so--a man to whom I owe a heartfelt apology in this regard--but until Donald went and did this, I didn't really believe he was, well, actually disturbed. I just thought he was really wrong, and maybe a bit too "passionate" about some things.)
But anyone who would be crazy/brave enough to waste the time of first responders and political officials over blog comments that he was already perfectly capable of controlling, and insisting that laws designed to protect battered women apply to him and his blog, is really pretty. far. out. there.

And it wasn't just me thinkin' it... Folks online said so... Folks I spoke to offline said so, too, including some of the folks I consulted with about the laws that do and don't apply to the situation--folks who have more real-world experience with these kinda things than I do... Over and over, I heard essentially the same message... Only the wording would change:

Any guy crazy enough to think he's entitled to have police officers and the FBI enforce the rules of his blog is likely crazy enough to be dangerous when he discovers that they cannot. In any case, it's probably not a good idea to put yourself in the position of finding out.

Then there was having to talk to people about what went on... It didn't really occur to me until I was about to go talk to my friend, the lawyer, but not everybody blogs... ...and even fewer blog politically... And very few do the kind of crap in the name of political blogging that Donalde and I have been doing with and to each other for the last several years. I can't speak for Donalde--obviously--but I was pretty embarrassed to have to explain it all, but especially that last part...

The whole stupid stereotypical male pissing contest aspect of the thing...
Like I said above, this isn't who I want to be, and having to admit out loud that it's who I've been was a real wake-up call...

The final straws came in the last 36-48 hours. First, was a post by one of Donalde's online blogging friends: Saberpoint: Strange Things Are Happening....Donald Douglas Annoyed by Leftwing Blogger. In his post, Stogie says:

"One thing is apparent. Casper has won.

Donald has allowed this individual to get under his skin in a very big way. All Casper has to do now is make any small remark and Donald has a mental breakdown...or so it seems.

Donald, there is much truth to the saying "Don't feed the trolls." You have been serving Casper a 16 oz steak on a daily basis. You have rewarded his efforts. Stop commenting about Respac3 aka Walter James Casper III. Stop reacting to him. Stop referring to him as "hate blogger Walter James Casper III." Is he a hate blogger? Who knows? Who cares, but why give him such a fearsome reputation?"

And in kinda the same vein, a few comments by (very) occasional nihilist Doctor Biobrain, attached to a post at his blog. ...And like Stogie's words above, they were addressed to Donald Douglas. Here's a representative sample, taken from several comments there:

Frankly, I've never understood why they bother with you. You're a boring clown who doesn't deserve to have a blog named American Nihilist dedicated to denouncing you. Exposing your hypocrisy, errors, and lies is like trying to count sand. After awhile, you realize it's pointless and just give up. - And Doctor Biobrain's Response Is...: 11:30 PM

"Again, that's why you shouldn't mess with people. You never know who is crazy and who might cross lines you don't want crossed. And if you treated people with more respect, you wouldn't be having these problems." - And Doctor Biobrain's Response Is...: 11:48 AM

"I mean, like the claims of me being a nihilist. What the fuck did that even mean? I'm a CPA who has his own business, a family man, completely trustworthy, and widely regarded as a nice guy by everyone. I'm one of the most optimistic people you'll ever meet and rightly so, because my life is good and I'm having fun about 99.9% of the time. I believe America is great and want it to be even better for everyone.

And so the idea that I'm a nihilist was soooooo ridiculous that I eventually turned it into its own thing. I really enjoy writing those nihilist posts and I owe it all to you, for being my inspiration.

And yet you stand by those claims, as well as all the other smears you've thrown at me over the years. And what did you gain from it? Nothing. Not a damn thing, except a lot of hassle and a blog devoted to denouncing you.

So how about you change your ways? Stop the personal smears and start making amends by acknowledging that you were wrong for personally attacking all the people you attacked. I'm telling you, these people aren't monsters. Or I hope they're not anyway. And maybe it's too late and they'll just pounce on you, but you shouldn't let it bother you because it shouldn't be personal. And more likely than not, you'll find that they're just regular people like everyone else.

The way I see things, if you're not having fun in life, then you're doing it wrong. And I don't see how you're having fun with this. There's a solution and you're the only one who can do it. You can never insult someone into submission, but you can certainly win them over with a little friendliness and understanding.

While I don't agree with every last word either of 'em said in their comments, both of 'em spoke to me, even though--coincidentally--they were both actually talking to Donald.

There is no reason why Donalde should have a blog devoted to refudiating everything he says... Why should anyone care? Why should I treat him as though he's worthy of that kind of attention? Why should I bother with what he says or thinks about me or anything else, when it's clear that the people who value his opinions are people I don't give a damned about in the first place...

Stogie's right, but Donalde isn't the only one reacting to the other like Pavlov's dog... I was doing it, too, responding here to every mention of my name there, pretty much on sight...

Bio's right... Debating Donalde and dealing with his lies and ever-shifting hypocrisies is like counting grains of sand... Wet sand. In the snow. With gale force winds.
And when you come right down to it, it serves no legitimate purpose. Why wallow in the mud and slime with this clod? "...you both get dirty, but only the pig likes it."

I'd rather accentuate the positive, thanks... ...and it's time I start...

So, though Donald Douglas seemingly won't listen to 'em, I will.

The fact is, I want no part of it, anymore...

I'm done.

If this is what Donalde wants to call "winning," he can have it, with all the blessings and good wishes I can muster...
Maybe my leaving the dance floor will indirectly curtail Donald's hateful tango of derision, distraction and destruction... (It takes two, you know... Even if Donald's still not willing to stop, finding a new dance partner stupid and pig-headed enough to take over for me will take time...)

The. Blog. Stays. Up.

That's a promise I won't go back on. I'm a stickler for the written record, besides, so it just makes sense... I'll probably adjust a few things... ...and maybe even repurpose the place, perhaps... We shall see... (Unless/until I do repurpose the place or whatever, the other authors continue to be free to post as they wish... Any topic--even the one I'm giving up on, even. (As always, I only speak for myself. They can post as they please, according to their own consciences.)--whenever and however they wish...)

The one exception to my declaration above is this legal business... I'll continue to discuss that here and wherever else necessary, online or off, for as long as it's a going concern, but once it's gone, so is Donald Douglas, man and myth, as a topic of my blogging. (And Donald... If you secretly have even the slightest misgivings about calling your congressman, the police, & who-knows-who-fuck-all over blog comments, I'm offering you an easy, blame-free (blame-me) way out... Say you're stopping because it's unnecessary, seeing as how I gave in, defeated... It's all up to you, Bud, and I won't call you out... You'll never get a better opportunity to slink out of such a stupid, crazy, bone-headed, CRAZY (and did I say crazy?) f@ck%ng move, without even having to admit either fault or failure. If I was you, I'd think about it.)

That isn't to say I won't discuss the same topics as him, or even quote and cite American Power, sometimes... But to the extent that it's possible, I'll avoid mentioning his name, or discussing him, personally. (While my phrasing may seem a tad weaselly, I don't much go in for absolute statements and zero tolerance policies... There are circumstances that would warrant my talking about Donald personally--especially given the current situation--and I'm not going to swear to do / not do something that could at some later point turn out to be unreasonable.)

In true Donalde Kent Douglas fashion though, he is now and forevermore BANNED!!! from commenting on any/all blogs under my control... No whining, threats or fretting... All future submissions disappeared on sight, without further notice or comment. Persona non grata, gone-a, goodbye...

Today's offering, "American Power: Intent to Annoy and the Fascist Hate-Blogging Campaign of Walter James Casper III," wasn't so much a citation of law as an "If I Were King Of The Internets" statement. On some level, I'd probably prefer that the law said whatever I needed it to for me to smite my enemies, too... ...but that's just not how the world works...

Even in today's post though, there's this, cited from HaltAbuse.org:

First, you need to determine whether or not what you're experiencing is truly harassment.

Harassment consists of the intentional crossing of your emotional or physical safety boundaries. You must have boundaries set in place clearly in order for that to apply. The legal definition of harassment, according to Black's Law Dictionary, is:
"A course of conduct directed at a specific person that causes substantial emotional distress in such person and serves no legitimate purpose" or "Words, gestures, and actions which tend to annoy, alarm and abuse (verbally) another person."
This is of course a very broad definition, which state and federal legislation and common law have narrowed and refined in various ways. However, for our purposes, WHOA defines online harassment as any actions that meet the qualifications of the above definition after the harasser has been told to cease.

If someone simply disagrees with you, however strongly or unpleasantly, that isn't harassment. Someone who sends you a single email message that isn't overtly threatening probably hasn't harassed you. Spam, while very annoying, isn't harassment. And messages posted to any open venue, such as a newsgroup, a web-based board, an AOL discussion forum or a chat room, are seldom truly harassing unless they're forged to appear to come from you or contain direct threats or libelous statements. The same goes for things said on someone else's web site. Harassment usually involves repeated communications via email or some sort of instant messaging program after the harasser has clearly been told to go away.

My records indicate I sent three e-mails to Dr Douglas' blog e-mail address, all of which were more or less on topic, and only after reading this invitation: "Comments are closed. Readers who'd like to comment may reply to me by e-mail (at my Blogger profile) and I'll add comments in updates to this post." Everything else have been comments submitted to his "open venue" blog, intending that they be posted publicly, and did not contain any threats or libelous statements.

Federal statute 47 U.S.C. 223 prohibits anonymous harassment on the Internet and general harassment with the intent to annoy. As one writer indicates:

This one seems pretty obvious... there has been no travel, and/or no intent to to kill, injure, harass, place anyone under surveillance, or cause anyone substantial emotional distress, by any means.

Nothing in this subdivision shall apply to telephone calls or electronic contacts made in good faith.

Aside from the jurisdictional issues, (see below), there has been no intent to annoy or repeated contact, and no obscene language or threat to inflict injury to person or property.

For the purposes of this section, "harasses" means a knowing and willful course of conduct directed at a specific person that seriously alarms, annoys, torments, or terrorizes the person, and that serves no legitimate purpose. This course of conduct must be such as would cause a reasonable person to suffer substantial emotional distress, and must actually cause substantial emotional distress to the person.
f. For purposes of this section, "course of conduct" means a pattern of conduct composed of a series of acts over a period of time, however short, evidencing a continuity of purpose. Constitutionally protected activity is not included within the meaning of "course of conduct."
g. For the purposes of this section, "credible threat" means a verbal or written threat, including that performed through the use of an electronic communication device, or a threat implied by a pattern of conduct or a combination of verbal, written, or electronically communicated statements and conduct made with the intent to place the person that is the target of the threat in reasonable fear for his or her safety or the safety of his or her family and made with the apparent ability to carry out the threat so as to cause the person who is the target of the threat to reasonably fear for his or her safety or the safety of his or her family. It is not necessary to prove that the defendant had the intent to actually carry out the threat. The present incarceration of a person making the threat shall not be a bar to prosecution under this section.
h. For purposes of this section, the term "Electronic communication device" includes, but is not limited to, telephones, cellular phones, computers, video recorders, fax machines, or pagers. "Electronic communication" has the same meaning as the term defined in Subsection 12 of Section 2510 of Title 18 of the United States Code.

Aside from the jurisdictional issues--alleged crimes are committed where the alleged criminal is, not where the alleged victim is--there have been no willful and repeated behaviors, or any credible threat with intent to place anyone in fear for his/her safety. Rather, we're talking about non-threatening, on-topic comments submitted to a public blog for moderator approval.

NY and CA lawyers (the latter, a specialist in internet defamation/harassment/stalking/??? cases--and a real ambulance chaser... He's trying to convince me I have a case.) concur. (And for the record, IN really doesn't want me, either... Sometimes I wonder whether NY even cares...)

Maybe I'll have more to say about it all in future, but then again, maybe I won't... (It didn't deserve the attention it's already gotten...) ((OTOH, I mighta said more now, if I didn't have someplace I had to be...))

Like too many Republicans, Mrs Newton #3 is trying to sell a meme about the left that is a lie. I agree with 99% of everything she says in the video. There is no "'great debate' about whether America is an exceptional nation, or just another country," except in a few folk's divisive, partisan, and seemingly fevered imaginations.

Whether one believes man was endowed with inalienable rights by a Christian God or by human nature, the end result--the form of government that makes America exceptional--is the same. It is our American ideals that make us unique in the world, and it is our desire and ability to sell our ideals to others--both immigrants who come here to seek a better life and become a part of this country, and to a lesser extent, those foreign nations who have incorporated some of our American ideals into their governments--that make we Americans unique.

Too often, however, there IS a certain degree of arrogance when talking about American exceptionalism. There are too many who believe that America was a nation chosen by God from among all (or most) others, and that we Americans are a chosen people above those of other nations. They are often nativists who don't want to share and expand American exceptionalism. Immigrants and other groups are demonized and deemed unworthy. "All men are created equal." Except Muslims (American or otherwise.) Except gay folks. Except liberals. That kind of American exceptionalism isn't worth the breath with which it's spoken...

I believe in American exceptionalism... But unlike too many on the right, I'm not particularly threatened if the citizens of some other country feel the same about their ideals and way of life (though I do think they're wrong.) I've no doubt that folks in Israel, England, Russia, and Egypt believe their country and way of life to be exceptional, that it in any way diminishes America or our exceptionalism because they do, or that there is any harm in recognizing that fact, either.

In the context of all the multilateral activity that's been going on this week--the G-20, here at NATO--and your evident enthusiasm for multilateral frameworks, to work through multilateral frameworks, could I ask you whether you subscribe, as many of your predecessors have, to the school of American exceptionalism that sees America as uniquely qualified to lead the world, or do you have a slightly different philosophy? And so I see no contradiction between believing that America has a continued extraordinary role in leading the world towards peace and prosperity, and recognizing that that leadership is incumbent depends on our ability to create partnerships, because we create partnerships because we can't solve these problems alone.

(I have previously--and will again in more detail--address the main points of the post, regarding me, Rachel Maddow, and American exceptionalism, but first, this.):

There is no "term of use" that forbids anyone from submitting comments to any blogspot blog, and I find it awful hard to believe that anyone at Google is going to reprimand a person for one for one comments in response to posts where that person is called out by name, no matter how vociferously the blog owner asserts his right to malign a person at his blog without being called on it at that same blog. (I'm willing to bet I could submit a comment or two in response to every post at this blog, and Google still would not act--Dr. Douglas should consider himself lucky I only submit comments to some of the posts where he attacks me by name.)

That said, if Google does agree with Dr. Douglas, and contacts me pointing out the term I am violating, I will most certainly stop doing so. I suspect, however, that should Google respond to Dr. Douglas' specious "Mommy, he's making faces at me!! Make him STOP!!!" pleas at all, it will be to tell Dr. Douglas that he ought to grow up and stop whining. One cannot throw the first punch, and then scurry to hide behind his mother's skirt complaining about the return punch.

And seeing as he intends to approve of my comments, anyway, perhaps Dr. Douglas would be so brave as to not delete the comment sections on posts mentioning me--or maybe, just not moderate his blog in the first place. (though the latter'd prolly take more guts than Dr. D. has, anymore... Golly forbid folks actually disagree with him on his own blog...)

Okay, this has gone on long enough.

I am herewith setting out my policy on harassment and stalking and I'm affirming for the record that I'm playing for keeps.

For some reason racist hate-blogger Walter James Casper III thinks this is all fun and games. I warned him not to comment here and that if he does comment I will approve those as a record of harassment, which I will report to Google. Casper's contacts here at this blog are unwanted and unsolicited. I am within my free speech rights to post commentary and criticism on politics and ideology. And I am particularly within my rights to identify and highlight criminally derogatory and racist speech directed against me. And thus I will continue to monitor Casper's hate blog American Nihilist. Importantly, since Casper sponsored workplace attacks against me, and since he has contacted me personally by email with threatening statements, I ceased all direct contact with him at his blog or elsewhere online. And I have also repeatedly warned Walter James Casper III not to contact me or to comment at this blog. It's all on the record.

As is within my free speech rights, I highlighted Casper's dishonesty and stupidity in an essay today: "Oops! MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Spews Hatred of American Exceptionalism: Racist Attack Blogger Walter James Casper III Caught Lying Again!"

Comments are closed at that post to prevent harassment. Casper commented at an unrelated post, against my wishes, since he is banned from commenting here. After I updated the post, Casper ignored the admonitions yet again with another comment in violation of my rights:

Actually, there are indeed "'terms of use' that forbid" Casper from harassing me in the comments. According to Blogger's "Terms of service":
2. Proper Use. You agree that you are responsible for your own use of the Service, for any posts you make, and for any consequences thereof. You agree that you will use the Service in compliance with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws, rules and regulations, including any laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from your country of residence and all United States export control laws.
Walter James Casper is engaged in a malicious, persistent, and willful pattern of abuse that is prohibited under California state law (see below). As such, Casper's comments here are a violation of Blogger's terms of service. Moreover, here's the statement from Google's "Reporting abuse - Blogger Help" page:
We strongly believe in freedom of expression, even if a blog contains unappealing or distasteful content or presents unpopular viewpoints. We realize this may be frustrating, and we regret any inconvenience this may cause you. In cases where contact information for the author is listed on the page, we recommend that you work directly with this person to have the content in question removed or changed.
Here are some examples of content we will not remove unless provided with a court order:

Personal attacks or alleged defamation
Parody or satire of individuals

(a) Any person who willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly follows or harasses another person and who makes a credible threat with the intent to place that person in reasonable fear for his or her safety, or the safety of his or her immediate family, is guilty of the crime of stalking, punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for not more than one year or by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment, or by imprisonment in the state prison.

(b) Any person who violates subdivision (a) when there is a temporary restraining order, injunction, or any other court order in effect prohibiting the behavior described in subdivision (a) against the same party, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years.

(c) Every person who, having been convicted of a felony under this section, commits a second or subsequent violation of this section shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three,
or four years.

(d) In addition to the penalties provided in this section, the sentencing court may order a person convicted of a felony under this section to register as a sex offender pursuant to subparagraph (E) of paragraph (2) of subdivision (a) of Section 290.

(e) For the purposes of this section, "harasses" means a knowing and willful course of conduct directed at a specific person that seriously alarms, annoys, torments, or terrorizes the person, and that serves no legitimate purpose. This course of conduct must be such as would cause a reasonable person to suffer substantial emotional distress, and must actually cause substantial emotional distress to the person.

(f) For purposes of this section, "course of conduct" means a pattern of conduct composed of a series of acts over a period of time, however short, evidencing a continuity of purpose. Constitutionally protected activity is not included within the meaning of "course of conduct."

(g) For the purposes of this section, "credible threat" means a verbal or written threat, including that performed through the use of an electronic communication device, or a threat implied by a pattern of conduct or a combination of verbal, written, or electronically communicated statements and conduct made with the intent to place the person that is the target of the threat in reasonable fear for his or her safety or the safety of his or her family and made with the apparent ability to carry out the threat so as to cause the person who is the target of the threat to reasonably fear for his or her safety or the safety of his or her family. It is not necessary to prove that the defendant had the intent to actually carry out the threat. The present incarceration of a person making the threat shall not be a bar to prosecution under this section.

(h) For purposes of this section, the term "electronic communication device" includes, but is not limited to, telephones, cellular phones, computers, video recorders, fax machines, or pagers. "Electronic communication" has the same meaning as the term defined in Subsection 12 of Section 2510 of Title 18 of the United States Code.

I will also report new instances of abuse and harassment to the Irvine Police Department and the Long Beach Police Department. Here is the record of harassment published previously, with one of Casper's emails warning me to "reconsider" or else: "Continuing Lies by Cowardly Hate-Blogger W. James Casper in Left's Demonic Workplace Intimidation Campaign." And American Nihilist's long pattern of abuse, intimidation, and workplace harassment is chronicled at this post as well.

The harassment stops now. Walter James Casper III has no right to comment on this blog. If he feels he has been maligned or libeled he can take proper legal recourse. I have legal representation and I am prepared to defend my free speech rights in a court of law.

And folks might weigh Ann Althouse's comments policy in relation to the policy I'm setting forth here. She writes:

Althouse is a professor of law, so she certainly knows something about harassment and stalking. And recall that Walter James Casper III has long been trolling my comments. Indeed, I went to comment moderation to help prevent his trolling. But comment moderation has not been effective, and I have had to disable comments to some posts on occasion to prevent malicious attacks. When I did that, Casper then started harassing me by email. These emails I consider personally threatening to me and my family. And as such they're considered criminal activity under California state law. Hereafter I will update this post with any comment here from Walter James Casper III, or with any other form of unwanted personal contact, and I will submit a complaint of abuse and criminal harassment to Google and to the proper legal authorities.

Walter James Casper III is hereby notified under the law.

A man named Walter James Casper III used to be a commenter on my blog years ago. He became obsessed and abusive and started an entire blog to attack me personally and to threaten me with harassment. His co-bloggers at the blog, called "American Nihilist," have contacted my workplace to complain about my blogging, trying to get me fired. These attacks are violating my free speech rights and causing me and my family personal strife and emotional duress. Walter James Casper has also sent me personal emails of a threatening nature. These are completely unsolicited, as I have never exchanged emails with him at any time. I have written about the harassment and threats at my blog and Walter James Casper claims he has a right to respond in the comment section at my blog. While I have moderated comments, or even disabled comments, Casper continues to harass me with additional attempts to comment, with threats, and by email. I will also be filing police reports and contacting my attorney about these issues. My complaint is in no way an attempt to suppress Casper's free speech rights. This is only to notify Blogger of a terms of use violation, since Casper's threats are illegal under California state law, Penal Code Section 646.9, which makes cyberstalking and online harassment a crime. Casper's Blogger profile name is "Repsac3" and this is his Blogger profile URL: http://www.blogger.com/profile/15458282944035344707. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

At first I envisioned some kinda east coast <--> west coast chick singin' let it all hang out goofy Christmas song video rivalry, like them rappers used to have... (That is what them rappers used to have, yes?!?)

But the fact is, I'd much rather see 'em workin' together, sometime, somewhere... I think they're both phenomenal talents, and I urge anyone unfamiliar to get to know these performers better... (Obviously, this isn't their best work, but for what they are, these videos are pretty great...)

In the post American Power: Orange County Chick-fil-A Cashier Fired for Racist 'Ching' and 'Chong' Receipts, a post about a cashier at a CA fast food place who typed "Ching" or "Chong" into the name slot on two occasions when she had an Asian customer, Dishonest Donald Douglas tries to gratuitously shoehorn my name into the post and then tell lies about me by adding the following:

I can't believe people like that. But you have to stand up against that kind of racism and bigotry. Unfortunately, progressive racism of the same stripe is pretty common online. I discussed it at Zilla's in the comments regarding the disgusting bigotry of Walter James "Racist" Casper III.

To review, this is what Dishonest Don alleged in that comment section regarding my supposed racism:

Repsac is also racist. He's stated previously that he first identifies people by race or ethnic background then treats them (segregates them) accordingly. I ---- we ---- treat people as individuals with dignity.

Of course he provides no link or quote, leaving folks to either trust him just on his word (which as this blog has repeatedly shown by example and citation, isn't worth shit), or investigate for themselves what the fuck he may be talking (which is to say, lying) about...

This was my response at the time:
(I think what Dishonest Don was/is crying "raaaaacist" about in the comment cited above is the situation discussed/linked to at #3. Unless/until Dishonest Donald Douglas is willing to more specifically pinpoint the conversation he's lying about, I have to assume it's that one...):

* As near as I can figure it, Donald's racism charge, first launched after I called him out for bigoted posts like these, amounts to the following:

1) I didn't believe a comment made about Donald Douglas' celtic-sounding name and "swarthy" complexion was racist...

2) I called a black man a clown because I disagreed with something he said...

and

3) I said that it is not racist to mention--or even talk about--race... ...and as an example, said that it would not be racist for another professor to describe Dr. Douglas as "a grey-haired black man wearing a blue suit with a red tie, who was likely to be dining in the south quad cafeteria at this hour" to a new student or professor who had never met the man. Apparently, taking any notice of skin color or other "racial" feature is evidence that one judges people based on their ethnic or racial background. (And lest there be any confusion, this was a part of Donald's comment in reply: "...you welcome people who see me first as a black man and not a man." Yeah... Really.)

It looks to me like Kayak (along with the rest of the businesses who pulled their advertising) got played for fools by this bigoted group in FL. They would've been wise to just ignore them and make their decisions based on, well, business--and perhaps, assuming Mr Birge is telling the truth (I have my doubts), even gone so far as to delay a planned ad pullout, so as not to even appear to be caving to bigotry.

Now they're damned by one side or the other, no matter what they do or don't do next. Whether they resume advertising or not (or write simpering excuse-laden explanations or not) either the bigots or a big swath of the rest of America is going to watch and remember what they did and do, and be unhappy with whatever decisions they make.

It was a classic rightwing media/FoxNews ploy... Speculate about and otherwise talk up any/all possible controversy about a given issue, and then dutifully report that the issue has become "controversial," with the not-so-subtle suggestion that mainstream Americans (and politicians, and companies) might want to avoid getting too involved with this "hot-button, third rail, controversial" issue.

Sadly for these companies who pulled their ads, the ratings for the show will likely go up, temporarily at least, because of the "controversy," meaning more eyeballs on the ads of companies that stuck it out, while the ones who pulled their ads get labelled as bigots and as lacking backbone, whether fairly or unfairly. This little nothing show that not a whole lot of people were watching in the first place is now a "controversial" wedge issue for a whole lotta folks.

Shoulda just ignored the bigots, guys... Perhaps next time...

But shouldn't the former professor have handled it differently, too? Reports suggest that these two students were disruptive for an HOUR... What kind of professor loses control of his class for an HOUR, without doing something about it? (Ask the disruptive students to leave the class, cancel the class and dismiss everyone, call campus security and have the disruptive students removed, ..., ...) It seems to me his classroom management skills were lacking, to say the least.

And after having been to his website and reading his L-O-N-G "Why I quit" resignation post in particular, I have serious questions about his professional and personal ethics, as well. It's a vindictive, bigoted, self-serving "name and shame" attack on the two Muslim students and on his former college administrators that suggests the man lacks the temperament needed to work and play well with others in an educational setting. Even now, he's recruiting "anti-Jihad" bloggers and others who agree with him religiously or politically to write or call TCC administrators up and down the chain in support of him and his cause, posting a list of administration names, addresses and phone numbers...

Based on the accounts I've read, the two Muslim students did behave poorly, both in class and subsequently. But I don't believe that their behavior mitigates or absolves Mr. Derengowski of his own behaviors and attitudes after the fact.

While the text contained in Dishonest Don's screengrab at his link pretty much exposes Donald's lie all by itself, I also responded when he first made the post... ...last February. (This was during his "communist as meaningless pseudo-political epithet of the month" phase, and thus everyone and everything he disagreed with became "Communist." Like most of his meaningless epithets, post-"nihilist," it didn't last long...)

The gist was (and is, in this current post, as well) Donald finds a picture or mention of 5-10 individuals representing the American Communist Party or some similar group handing out fliers or whatever at a large liberal rally or protest, and tries to convince folks that their presence conclusively proves everyone at the rally is a closet Marxist or Stalinist.

Pretty sure I answered your question before you ever asked it there, Gromet... Those countries generally do not allow other faiths to be practiced, and the leaders responsible for that are discriminatory bigots...

...But it seems to me that folks fighting against mosques here in this country--or boycotting businesses that advertise during a reality show depicting actual American Muslims behaving pretty normally, and decidedly NOT like terrorists or terrorist sympathizers--are kinda following in their footsteps, ideologically speaking. (No, there are no death sentences, and buildings aren't burning down, but that's a matter of degree, not intent.)

I live here in America, and I believe in religious freedom, even for faiths that I don't personally subscribe to... ...and as an American, I expect everyone else here to stand for the same American freedoms that I do... I fail to see what's unclear about that.

We are not a Muslim country, or a Christian country, or any other religious kinda country. Our diversity--religious and otherwise--is one of our great strengths...

But as long as I'm editing in, "the BIGOT," Gromet, is anyone who judges every member of a given group as one (generally based on the behavior of the worst members of the group), rather than judging the individual on his/her own merits. Those who do not allow the building of churches in predominantly Muslim countries do qualify. But the people doing that are the leaders, not every single Muslim, in or out of the country in question. The bigotry of former professor Derengowski doesn't stain every Christian, either... ...and, it wasn't Muslim students misbehaving in his class -- or it was, but they weren't misbehaving because they were Muslims, but because they were rude kids who were offended by some of what Mr. Derengowski was saying about their faith, and reacted poorly.

In a post primarily discussing a college professor's run-in with two Muslim students that resulted in the professor's resignation, Dishonest Don appended the following:

"No doubt Walter James "Occupy" Casper III would be down with that "female Muslim student." The dude called for an investigation of Pamela Geller and berates conservative counter-jihad bloggers as racist. For pro-terror progressives like Racist Repsac3, the professor had it coming and he obviously deserved to be out on his ass, pounding the pavement for a job."

As I've said before, if you want to know what professor Douglas is up to, the best way is often to watch what he accuses others of doing. The man claims I'm obsessed with him... ...and yet he won't stop lashing out with these nonsensical, counterfactual, gratuitous mentions in posts about other subjects, regardless of whether I write about him--or the subject in question--or not. His fact free suppositions about what he thinks I might believe or maybe would do as regards the main subject of these posts (the strand of thread he uses to drag me into his posts and then lash out at me for whatever dastardly belief or action he's invented for me in a given situation) are not supported by anything but his own fevered, hateful imagination. In most cases I've never even discussed the topic at hand, and even when I have, Donald doesn't quote me, making it far easier to put his words and ideas in my mouth and then attack his made-up bullshit version of what "I" actually said...

I get it... Dishonest Don doesn't like me... Of all the people he's fought with over the last several years, I'm obviously the one he most hates, for reasons known only to Donald himself... ...but dragging me into all these posts based solely on what he guesses I might say or believe about the subject at hand does little more than make ol' Don look pretty desperate to lash out at me. And if he really is so desperate that he's willing to throw these wild drunken punches at me as these bullshit "W James would no doubt..." posts make him seem, I actually feel kinda sorry for the guy...

Added, after doing a bit more reading:

As for the subject of the post itself--the resignation of the professor--there seems to be more to the story than Dishonest Donald Douglas was willing to offer.

The professor's blog, Christian Apologetics Project--listed on the syllabus for the class in question--lists Islam, Mormonism, and Jehovah's Witnesses as cults rather than as religions, and reads a whole lot like the average Pamela Geller screed where Islam is concerned. (And for the record, yes, I do believe that Pam Geller is a bigot. The only Muslims she seems to approve of or in any way support are former Muslims or dead ones. She opposes Muslim religious services for US soldiers on military bases, and even at the Pentagon.

I'm fine with folks opposed to the strain of Islam that creates and feeds terrorism... ...but I don't believe that every Muslim is a potential terrorist any more than I believe every person practicing any other religion is... There are millions of Muslims throughout the world, and the vast majority never had and never will have a single "terrorist" thought. Those who fight against mosques, footbaths, religious services, etc, strictly because Muslims will use them are bigots. Pamela Geller--and yes, some of her "anti-Jihad" blogging followers and fellow travelers too--are indeed bigoted against all Muslims (except the ones who converted and the ones who are dead, of course.)

This news story (non-Fox, not Con blogger) paint a more nuanced picture of the situation: TCC Disputes That Professor Was Forced Out For His Beliefs - CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

I don't know what actually happened... (That's what I was trying to determine by googling the story.) But even reading Professor Derengowski's account, it sounds like he's got piss-poor classroom management skills, although--if his account is to be believed--the Muslim students behaved badly, no matter their complaint.

On the other hand, if the professor was teaching the kind of things posted on his website--and again, note that he listed his blog as a resource on the class syllabus, making it more than just his personal opinions on his personal blog--I could see where Muslim students (and Mormon students, and Jehovah's Witness students, and atheist students, too) would have a legitimate complaint against him. And according to the news story above anyway, at least one Muslim student (seemingly not one of the ones who caused the disturbance in class, though the article could be more clear on that point) says he was.

Contrary to Dishonest Don's wild guess, I don't know enough about the story to venture much of an opinion on the whole of the story. Here's what I can say:

I think the professor was right to report the student's threat. One cannot be too careful.

I think the students were right to report what they believed to be classroom bias to college administrators. The e-mail the student sent around was more than likely over the top and inappropriate, though I'd have to know what it actually said to really judge--and no, I'm not willing to take the professor's characterization of it as Gospel truth. I have no problem with anyone on either side speaking out and pleading their case, and to whatever extent the e-mail was an attempt to persuade the other students in the class that Professor Derengowski was teaching in a biased manner, I don't have much of a problem with it... ...just as I don't have a problem with Professor Derengowski telling his side of the story on his blog, essentially trying to persuade others that he was in the right...

And perhaps it is naive of me, but I find it hard to believe that the administrators of the college were biased against him, too. I'm not saying they were right to reprimand him or require that he change how he teaches the course... but I am saying that unlike me (or Dishonest Don, for that matter), they had all the facts before them, and more than likely made a fair and judicious decision based on what they saw and heard.

I generally trust the officials we put in place to judge such things, and believe that even when they do get it wrong, that wrong will be set right further up the chain. I hope the campus police investigated the student's threat, evaluated the seriousness of it, and acted accordingly. The same goes for the college administrators who looked into the student's complaints of bias by Professor Derengowski. I don't know that they were right, but barring evidence to the contrary, I trust that they were, because that is their job. If they were wrong, I hope it gets fixed, somehow. (The fact that the professor voluntarily resigned might make that more difficult, however...)

In the end, Professor Derengowski felt he was being treated poorly and chose to leave... ...but from what I can tell based on what little evidence is available, that wasn't the fault of these Muslim students or some so-called "Terroristic Act of Jihad" (a designation which itself ought to tell the reader something about the professor making the claim--no matter how vehement, arguing with a professor in class, lodging a complaint with his superiors, or even circulating any kind of fact sheet, diatribe, or petition against him via e-mail, are hardly "terrorist" acts); Professor Derengowski made that choice all on his own.

Another Update: The more I read, the more I see why our Dr Douglas feels an affinity for Professor Derengowski. Those interested need only follow this link to read the professor's epic 13 page ranting diatribe against the two students who complained about him, in his own words. It is unprofessional, unethical, personally motivated holier-than-thou pompous clap-trap of exactly the sort our Dishonest Don regularly engages in when attacking others on his own blog. (Luckily, Donald has so far managed to keep himself from attacking his own students... ...though if he felt himself backed into a corner as a result of a complaint against him, is there anyone who doubts he would, the same way he's attacked those bloggers who've had the temerity to disagree with him?) A professor who would write a post like this, no matter the reason, almost certainly lacks the temperament and professional ethics required to teach. (And if Dr. Douglas keeps spewing the hate for all who disagree with him the way he has been, it'll likely be just a matter of time for him, as well...) YMMV...

According to Professor Derengowski:
1) the student quoted in the CBS article above was one of the two who lodged the complaint against him, and
2) he quotes portions of the text of the e-mail the female student sent to her classmates in his 13 page diatribe--though, again a lot like Dr. Douglas, he edits it, and intentionally hides her supporting links. (In his post, the quotes are interlaced with his own responses to them, some of which are pretty far "out there..." If you want to get a picture of who Dr. Douglas is defending, I urge you to follow the link (the same one I added above) and read it all, in context.) Judge for yourselves:

When they have to lie about what you say or stand for, they've already lost the fight. You know it, I know it, and when it comes right down to it, they know it too...

"That is the complete rejection of values, decency, restraint and traditionalism. And that's the core of the Occupy Wall Street societal agenda. No gender recognition. Pairing sexually with whomever it feels right and good, damn world historical norms of propriety and protection of the most vulnerable. As we saw in New York, women were unsafe at the Zuccotti Park encampment. They had to self-segregate to protect themselves against being raped. But that's all part of the movement, and no doubt man-boy love and polygamy as well, and only God knows what else. This is of course the end stage of the progressive agenda. This is what creepy radical leftists like Walter James Casper III endorse when they pump out brainless tweets exhorting commies, druggies, and hippies to "Occupy wherever you are." It's criminal. It's nihilist. It's deathly."

Donald--who says he supports full rights for gay Americans (as long as they don't act "gay," or try to use those rights to legally marry in the eyes of the state...or God forbid, knit)--equates homosexuals and those who believe that the government shouldn't treat them any differently than straight folks, with pedophilia and support for man-boy love--(no bigotry there, right?), then--finding some out there website that questions societal norms, and also supports the Occupy movement (and note what I said: THEY support Occupy; there is ZERO indication that Occupy supports THEM, except in Dr. Douglas' fevered imagination)--equates his straw man fake gay/pedophilia rights movement with the Occupy movement, and damns everyone to Hell based on connections he made up out of whole cloth.

In every movement, there are fringe players and groups who want to piggyback on the whole to advance their own causes. The Tea Party wasn't racist, but there were racist players associated with it. Folks opposed to abortion are overwhelmingly good people who just believe something different than I do... ...but there are folks who were willing to murder doctors and patients and blow up buildings in support of their cause. The people at Dishonest Donald Douglas' "Free Society" website say they support the Occupy movement, and maybe they do--but they no more speak for the movement than Donald speaks for mainstream conservatives. Generalizing about the whole of a movement by pointing to the fringe hangers on is dishonest... ...and everyone, including Donald, damned well knows it.

And by this point it should go without saying that the reason Donald doesn't actually show that his accusations about me have any merit at all--say, with quotes, links, or citations--is because he cannot. As is so often the case, Donald's arguments against me require him to make shit up, and then attack his own lies. The fact of the matter is, for all his bluster and bullshit, the only one talking about man-boy love or pedophilia is Donald Douglas... ...and perhaps folks ought to be asking themselves why...)

When they have to lie about what you say and stand for, they've already lost.

By that standard, dishonest Donald Douglas lost long, long ago.

@Rodney Duncan: But if I may, that isn't the issue, and it isn't strictly a "secular American" problem. Here, the issue is several holidays all right around the same time, and an inability to look at a person and know which one(s) s/he chooses to celebrate... ...and essentially having everyone assume you're a Christian because that is what most folks are, rather than Jewish, or Hindu, or Muslim, or none of the above...

I'm all for the kind of inclusiveness you talk about--and I hope that folks wish you a Happy Deepavali and the rest when those holidays come around, too--but this would be more like saying "Selamat Hari Raya Puasa" to you INSTEAD of Merry Christmas, because you're in a majority Muslim country...

The situation among your friends sounds good... Knowing the backgrounds, ethnicities, and faiths of your friends, you all offer each other the appropriate holiday greeting at the correct time... But the question is, what would you do if Deepavali fell on Tuesday, Ramadan ended yesterday, Christmas was on Thursday, and you didn't know who celebrated which, given the number of folks who may've converted from the faith most associated with their ethnicity? Would you treat everyone as a Muslim, because that is the dominant faith where you are, wish everyone a Merry Christmas, because that is your faith, or would you employ some variant of "Happy Holidays!!," so as not to offer anyone the wrong holiday greeting and perhaps offend them?

I think it'd be great if we could all wish everyone we see a "Merry" or "Happy" whatever, even if they're not actually of that particular faith, and have it be taken and accepted in the joyous spirit in which it is intended, rather than as some kinda slight... (I personally try to have a very happy Hannukah whenever possible, though there isn't a Jewish bone in my body.) But assuming that everyone is a Christian because most folks here are--or because YOU are--just isn't the way to go...

The fact is, we're not all Christians, and we Americans don't all celebrate Christmas... It's not exclusively the Christmas season, and they're not all Christmas sales, Christmas shoppers, Christmas concerts, Christmas pageants, Christmas decorations... While I'm sure it was nice back in the days when the mob ruled, and non-Christians were supposed to just grin and accept it when their whole town and country celebrated Christmas all around them, those days are over now... Now we protect the rights of the minority, too...

I'm sure stores would LOVE to wish every person celebrating a particular holiday the greeting most appropriate to them--and I bet that in almost every case where the clerk is sure of the holiday a particular customer celebrates, they do (and I'm fully down with those "It's OK to wish me a Merry Christmas" buttons some folks wear, so that clerks and cashiers do know)--but one's religion is not tattooed on the forehead... Wishing everyone happy holidays covers all faiths, and New Years, taboot... (And it's better'n wishing everyone Merry Christmas on Mondays, Happy Hanukkah on Tuesdays, Sweet Festivus on Wednesdays, ...)

The tree thing is a little more silly... Though it's origins are pagan, a decorated evergreen is known as a Christmas tree, these days... but there is nothing wrong with making the yearly lighting ceremonies more inclusive by also including non-Christian decorations, and billing it as a holiday lighting festival... a Festival of Lights, as it were...

Or, if a locality can afford it, have a Christmas Tree Lighting... And then have a Menorah Lighting Celebration, and / or a Kwanzaa Festival, and / or a HumanLight gathering, so it at least looks like the town or city is trying to meet the needs of all of it's residents, as opposed to only addressing the needs of the majority faith and culture. (Another great thing about America is that we defend the minority against strict majority rule... Even if there's only one non-Christian, he has as much right to have his faith recognized and celebrated by the local government as the Christian majority, and every right to complain if he believes he is being treated unfairly before the law.)

As for the rest, it's kind of in the eye of the beholder, I suspect... While I don't know where one would go to find proof either way--I'm offering no more or less evidence than you are--I suspect that there are proportionately no more complaints about Christian iconography than there are about non-Christian (sacred or secular) iconography, and that a whole lot of the complaints are based on height, zoning restrictions, community covenants, or other non-religious issues, besides.

After reading all the other comments (and making one, myself) all I can say is I wish you all a Merry Christmas AND a Happy Hanukkah, AND a beautiful solstice, and that's to say nothing of Kwanzaa, Festivus, HumanLight, and all the other December to remember holidays and celebrations open to you, one way or another... Whatever sacred and/or secular traditions you personally follow, I hope you take a moment to enjoy each of these holidays and give a thought to the people that do celebrate the ones you don't... They deserve a happy holiday just as much as you do, and it'd be a far better world if we could share our traditions with the folks not like us, rather than playing silly one-upsmanship games... The fact that we are a pluralistic multi-ethnic, multi- religious society is one of America's great strengths... But only if we're willing to teach and to learn and to relish our similarities and allow for our differences... (For the record, I'm pretty sure ol Link was just trying to be inclusive, not diss the tree or Christianity... It IS a Christmas tree, but it's also just one part of a pretty religiously and secularly crowded holiday season, and I think it's a pretty good idea for everyone to recognize that...)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the whole decorating of evergreens was a Yule tradition, not a Christian one... ...and it's mighty funny to watch these christian traditionalists argue in favor of such a pagan tradition... (On the other hand, most folks of all faiths do recognize that even though it was once a pagan tradition, a decked out evergreen IS generally known as a Christmas tree, these days... Rather than changing the name of the tree, places prolly ought to have holiday lighting ceremonies, where they light the tree, and a menorah, and a crèche, and whatever other sacred and secular decorations the locality intends to display on behalf--and for the enjoyment of--the residents. This whole "war on Christmas" thing is a silly distraction meant to divide us... And sadly, it seems to work every time...)

X-Post: The Dishonesty of Donald Douglas, Part 99

A quick review...

After two weeks of being ignored by me and everyone else here at American Nihilist, Donald Douglas lashes out at me by name--on Thanksgiving Day, no less, suggesting that if he were to mention the name of the retailer where his also nameless wife works, her life would be threatened by me.

Basis? Zero. No one here has ever threatened to harm Donald Douglas, any member of his family, or anyone he has ever met. Rather than just enjoying the day with his family, Donald felt the need to launch an unprovoked attack on me on Thanksgiving. God only knows why...

Late that night, I respond, making note of the fact that: Even on Thanksgiving, our poor pathetic little friend Dr. Donald Douglas cannot resist lashing out...

Predictably I suppose, Donald's response to being called out for his Thanksgiving attack post was, well, a little over the top--not to mention gravely dishonest--from the suggestion that I attacked him, to his suggestion that anyone here threatened to or has any interest in or desire to "rape his wife!"

(As near as I can figure it, someone in the comments made a Beavis and Butthead joke, and poor Donald failed to understand the cultural reference... Whatever his motives, Donald is lying... No one made any lewd or sexually-charged attacks on his wife--indeed, we mostly feel sorry for her, given the man to whom she's married. Given his penchant for hyperbole, I've no doubt that every mis-squeeze of the toothpaste tube is an attack on the very foundation of marriage and the traditional family, itself... or something.)

While his friend Zilla picked up and regurgitated his story, initially posting the following...

How very sad that some people apparently have nothing better to do, on a day dedicated to reflecting on all of the things for which one should be thankful, than to pick at a man over every single thing he ever writes on his blog, and then bitch about it when that man discusses the relentless attacks. But then again, Thanksgiving is an American holiday, and gratitude is something expressed by people who actually have functioning souls, so I suppose this should not be surprising. (Yes, this update did previously say something else, but after being asked to do further investigation, I did and have amended this post, as promised.)

While she still gets some of the facts wrong--claiming it was we "nihilists" who couldn't leave Donald alone on Thanksgiving, rather than the other way 'round--I give Zilla credit for at least trying to tell the truth. This alone shows her to be a far better class of person than Donald could ever be, were he to even try, anymore...

We agree, Zilla... We agree... (Surely Zilla was referring to Donald, since he was the guy attacking others on Thanksgiving day, Right? Of course, she was... ...and like I said, we're with her.)

The fact that Zilla updated her post to reflect the truth of the matter (more-or-less, anyway) had zero effect on Dr. Douglas, of course...

First, in another diatribe worthy of a drama queen short fiction award, Donald reposted Zilla's initial blurb on his blog, in spite of the fact that she had updated it to more closely resemble the truth hours earlier. As of this writing, it remains, unchanged... ...just as though Zilla had never called his veracity into question by updating it...

This post also repeats the discredited claim of sexualized references to his wife, including the emboldened admonition that "They would rape her given the chance." Donald is nothing if not consistent, no matter the facts. (He also seems to believe that if he doesn't link to me, he isn't attacking me, even if he alleges that I would rape (or later, kill) his wife in his blog post(s). That's some kinda odd definition of an attack, right there...) You'll have to follow the link for the rest of his largely paranoid-sounding rant... Given it's lack of substance--or for that matter, any tether to reality--it's not even worth discussing.

Of course, that bit of dishonesty wasn't enough... Donald had to try again to persuade Zilla and her readers that his bullshit was worthy of their consideration:

Zilla: Repsac3 is lying. His blog is a stalking hate site, not a place for commentary. He claims to have started it as a joke but it quickly became a focal point of attacks on my life (nothing compares to this, I can assure you). Repsac3 has a deranged obsession that is manifestly not healthy. His behavior is essentially criminal, but the police action required to get him to stop his harassment and threats is costly to mobilize. If you engage him know in advance that most what he says is not true and totally self-serving. He is a manifest pathological liar. Well wishes he might send are fake and designed only to inoculate himself from criticism. Repsac is also racist. He's stated previously that he first identifies people by race or ethnic background then treats them (segregates them) accordingly. I ---- we ---- treat people as individuals with dignity. Repsac has a history of stalking people. He harassed my friend Skye from Midnight Blue, following her around even to her YouTube pages. She warned me about him years ago as a pervert. He is not to be trusted and by allowing him to comment here I warn you that he'll pollute your community like a despicable troll and your community will be harmed. He's toxic that way. If he were decent he'd retire his attack blog and stop with his dementia and obsessions. People like this actually need help. I'd not feed his psychosis for fear of the bad karma and actual violence he's wont to foment. Walter James Casper III is a cancer.

As usual, however, Donald makes these allegations without a shred of evidence... Tall tales are all he has...

A few points:

* Donald accuses me of some undefined criminal acts, but asserts it would be too costly for the police to respond to them. Does that sound plausible to anyone?!? Donald has at various times accused me of stalking, harassment, and most recently, conspiracy to commit rape and/or murder... but he won't call the police about any of it because it would cost too much to have them respond?!? Sorry, Donald, but that's taking the desire to keep taxes low to a pretty fucking absurd level... (That, or perhaps the man is just lying... We report, you decide.)

* As near as I can figure it, Donald's racism charge, first launched after I called him out for bigoted posts like these, amounts to the following:

1) I didn't believe a comment made about Donald Douglas' celtic-sounding name and "swarthy" complexion was racist...

2) I called a black man a clown because I disagreed with something he said...

and

3) I said that it is not racist to mention--or even talk about--race... ...and as an example, said that it would not be racist for another professor to describe Dr. Douglas as "a grey-haired black man wearing a blue suit with a red tie, who was likely to be dining in the south quad cafeteria at this hour" to a new student or professor who had never met the man. Apparently, taking any notice of skin color or other "racial" feature is evidence that one judges people based on their ethnic or racial background. (And lest there be any confusion, this was a part of Donald's comment in reply: "...you welcome people who see me first as a black man and not a man." Yeah... Really.)

* Donald also seems to believe that commenting in response to posts is the same as stalking... The fact is, the political blogosphere really isn't all that large... As soon as one ventures away from the major sites, it's often the same small group of screen names, wherever one goes... That I responded to a particular blogger at both her own blog AND at a YouTube video or two isn't really all that unusual... ...unless one is Donald Douglas, I guess... For the rest of us, seeing and speaking to the same group of bloggers, left and right, on multiple sites is a pretty common occurrence... YMMV...

Obviously, Donald is going to continue to make these fact free, unsubstantiated allegations against me.

Just as obviously, there will be fools gullible enough to believe whatever lies he tells... All I can do is to continue to post the facts, hope that those intelligent and honest enough to think for themselves will see them, and pray that the gullible sycophantic fools are few and far between...
(A few folks have suggested that his allegations of criminal behavior meet the legal test for libel... ...and while I've not taken them seriously up to now, the fact that some of his blog buddies are now reposting his lies without bothering to even vet them first, has me wondering whether I ought to reconsider...)

So obviously, this blog isn't going anywhere for a long time to come...

Sadly, this somewhat innocuous comment, once again calling Donald's veracity into question, will be my last at Zilla's blog.

Citing her friendship with Donald and her desire that he not be made "uncomfortable" when coming to her blog (which exposing his lies for all to see would likely do), Zilla banned me from making any further comment there...

C'est la vie... "Birds of a feather...," I suppose...
Still, of all the folks who've limited my ability to discuss things with them, her motives--at least thus far--are the most pure... She's not claiming I've misbehaved, or that Donald hasn't... She's simply saying that as his friend, she wants him to be comfortable at her blog... Refreshingly honest, if ya ask me... (All that remains to be seen is whether she personally continues or condones attacks on me at her blog... If not, she retains my admiration; if so, well, I'd be surprised...and exceedingly disappointed...)

Here is the text of the e-mail I sent her this morning (before seeing that she had restricted my ability to comment, obviously):

I debated whether to post that last comment, but figured it was innocuous enough not to offend much of anyone other than the person lying about my good name... I shan't comment at your blog on the subject again... (though I AM writing a new post for my own blog that includes the comments made on yours by all concerned... You're welcome to stop by and see that I fairly represent the truth of the matter, if you wish--and correct me if I misstate anything, of course--once it is posted... I had intended to drop you a link, but given your latest comments, I won't... but nevertheless, you're always welcome to read, comment, and even vehemently disagree...)

While it is your blog, I humbly request that you not allow Donald to launch attacks on me while asking me not to respond to them, whether it be in the comments section, or by repeating his specious claims--particularly without vetting them first--in your own posts.

I only came to your blog because I was falsely accused there, both initially, and yesterday... Had I never been mentioned, I likely never would've made a comment...

As for the rest, we disagree...

My blog responds to attacks... It seldom initiates them.

In this latest episode, for example, we at American Nihilist were perfectly content to eat our turkey and stuffing in peace and not think of Dr Douglas at all--the same way we hadn't for the previous two weeks--until Donald decided to accuse me of some veiled threat to his wife as a part of his Thanksgiving Day post. All the rest flows from his initial unprovoked and unwarranted attack on my character and my good name... No matter how you chose to characterize it on your blog, I know you read the posts, and I know you know that what I say here is true. And that's good enough for me...

Sure... maybe it is unusual to have a blog devoted to refuting the attacks made on us and on our political and social opinions by Dr Douglas... But given the number of attacks the man has launched, it has become a necessary tool and a permanent record. You needn't agree with either it's existence or it's purpose, and as long as you tell the truth, you're welcome to criticize whatever we say, there... ...though as I said, I'd appreciate the opportunity to respond, should you choose to do so... But we're not going to go away, especially so long as Dr Douglas continues to tell such lies...

That said, I appreciate your position... I wouldn't be a part of this whole business either, if I didn't have to be... Assuming you keep attacks on me off of your blog, I'll never comment on the subject there again... (If your intent was to ban my comments altogether, please let me know... Until I hear otherwise, I'm going to think positive, and assume it wasn't, and that comments regarding other subjects are still welcome...)

Again, I'm sorry the disagreement between Donald and I ever touched down on your blog shore... It'll not happen again, at least by my hand... The rest, Zilla, is up to you...

She was 41.

She leaves behind two little girls she loved more than anything, Katie, who turns 3 on New Year’s Eve, and Ellie, who was born June 21.

Contrary to the specious claims in Donald Douglas' most recent dishonest attack post, it wasn't me who fired up anything... In fact it was poor pathetic Dr. Douglas who, in a bid for attention after being ignored by everyone who posts or comments at this blog for the last few weeks, decided to lash out in anger on Thanksgiving Day:

I can understand that Donald feels the need to justify why so few of his readers comment on his blog, but it's pretty pathetic that he feels the need to make me the scapegoat for his own failures, and to be so fucking dishonest...

No one who has anything to do with me has ever threatened poor pathetic Donald Douglas or any member of his family, on or offline. No one has broken any law as regards his person or property. His claims and insinuations to the contrary are lies, the product of a man whose posts and comments often cannot stand up to the slightest bit of scrutiny.

I understand that he gets upset when folks see him for who and what he truly is, but the dishonesty is all too plain to see... His accusations are all devoid of any proof. He says I am responsible for threats, but never quotes or links to a single one. He claims I've committed criminal acts, but never involves the police or legal representation.

The reason is simple.

Donald Douglas lashes out with libelous attacks and dishonest claims of wrongdoing when things don't go his way, but knows he cannot back his lies with anything of substance, so he doesn't even try... He seems to think his readers are too stupid to think for themselves and will believe whatever he tells them, but the fact is, they're not, and they often don't... ...and knowing that scares him, all the more...

Folks can agree with me or don't, but unlike Donald Douglas, I will always show you why I believe the things I do. While Donald refuses to quote, link, or cite much of anything he alleges I've said or done--pretending it has something to do with denying American Nihilist bloghitz, as though anyone here cares about such a thing--I will always quote exactly what Donald said, and link to the place he said it... Unlike Donald, I'm not afraid to show my work and have others decide for themselves whether my claims do or do not have merit.

Donald is angry and insecure... ...but if he thinks lashing out at me with such obviously dishonest bullshit is going to do anything but expose his anger and his insecurity to a wider audience, he really ought to reconsider his foolish behaviors and their effects on his online, professional, and personal reputation...

I can't speak for everyone here, but Donald can call me all the names he thinks he needs to, if that's what makes him feel better about himself... Nevertheless, this blog will continue to quote Donald Douglas' own words, link to where he said them, and allow those who choose to come here to read them--and our reactions to them--for themselves... ...and then make up their own names for Donald (or for the writer(s) here), if that is their wish...

When Donald lashes out--as he did on Thanksgiving Day, after being ignored by everyone at this blog for the previous two weeks--we're all too glad to throw the second punch in reply... and we likely will, as long as Donald keeps spewing his venomous bile and lashing out at those who don't choose to see the world through the hate-filled, black and white lenses he so often employs.

UPDATE: Donald's stock in trade response to being called out? Gratuitous mention(s) in post(s) ostensibly discussing some other topic. Donald Douglas is so pathetically predictable...

While folks like Donald Douglas seem eager to hide what those he disagrees with have to say by moderating his comment sections for content and limiting the number of verbatim quotes, citations, and links he uses when blogging, I want nothing more than to give folks every opportunity to read exactly what Dr. Douglas has to say, in all of it's contextual glory, and thus will quote and link to his exact words as often as I can...

Everyone please, go look at Donald Douglas, and particularly at the post(s) in question. Read everything he has to say. Weigh his arguments--as well as the arguments of those who disagree with him, of course--judge as fairly as your conscience allows you to, and come to your own conclusions.

Fair enough... (though I would say it's more a question of disagreeing with another blogger rather than attacking him... While I do occasionally respond to ad hom with ad hom of my own, most of my posts quote the man verbatim and then respond to the words and ideas in his posts.)

No, you've been perfectly cordial... If I have any complaint at all, it's that you didn't check the facts for yourself prior to posting your dishonest update. I mean, I appreciate that you're doing so now, but the responsible thing would've been to do so before posting the allegations in the first place... (At least you didn't repeat the photoshop that Dr Douglas so often posts... Seems we all have our "clown pictures"...)

Those who post threats or bigotry (or if I may, dishonest posts alleging sins and criminal acts with zero evidence, in an effort to ruin someone's reputation) deserve to have attention drawn to them, and providing quotes, links, and screen caps of the posts in question is the only responsible way to go about doing so...

I have no problem with the truth though, and I have a solid record of speaking out against bad behavior wherever I find it, and no matter what sociopolitical "side" it comes from or hurts.

I doubt "pox parties" is what they was called, but this idea about getting all the kids in the neighborhood sick together was fairly common when I was growing up in the early 70's... Like SignPainter's mom, mine wasn't interested--I don't recall my brother and I ever voicing a vote, though I suspect we both agreed with mom (I know I did)--but she did get the invitations from the parents of one or two of our friends, and the "parties" did take place. This mailing thing involving complete strangers is absolutely crazy, though...

As a lib though, I take exception to the "moonbat" twist on the story (assuming that's what Zilla's referring to, anyway...)... I'm not seeing any political affiliation mentioned in the original stories on this (and if I may be so bold as to say, looking at the states mentioned kinda suggests a different demographic, politically-speaking...) I mean, yeah, there are anti-vaccine nuts here on the left, but I know of at least a few parents whose main objection to vaccinating their kids is the crazy--and yet unshakable--belief that aborted fetuses are somehow used to create the vaccines.
As with most topics, there's nuts like this all across the political spectrum...

(Apologies if *I'm* the only one here adding politics to the story, but I've been called moonbat enough to get a feel for how it's most often used in right wing (nut) parlance... ...and enough to've created a blog with a title based on the twin epithets, in fact...)

I considered an actual response, but most of what I'd say is pretty obvious...

I may quote his bit about my "conspiracy" post and append it to what I said there, because his absurd take on it is sort of funny, in an ironic "WTF?!?" kinda way, especially in light of Dr. Douglas' crazy "henchman" allegations and accusations to which the post was meant to respond... (Methinks it's possible Robert might be a little satire-impaired, himself...though it's far more likely that he was feigning ignorance for his audience, as I suspect he was throughout most of that sore loser, "If you guys won't let me be the captain of the team, I'm takin' my kickball and goin' home" response.)

But to Robert all I can say is so long, sweet prince... Our brief encounter was kinda pleasant, mostly--even when you tried to insult, you did so with some intelligence, rather than relying exclusively on the usual twin epithet categories of bad language (fuckhead!) and eeeeevil sociopolitical grouping (fascist!!)--and I'm sorry to see that you were and remain so unwilling to stand your ground when things get rough--or even to compete on an even playing field, where you permit everything I say to appear, rather than picking and choosing only those comments you agree with or have a ready answer for. I'm sorry, Rob... But I'm not real impressed by a guy (or pair of guys) who speak ill of me from behind a screen of moderation... ...and I don't much value the opinions of anyone who is, either...

So, I'm glad you two are having fun n'all... but until you're willing to say your piece in a place where folks are free to respond--ALL folks, not just the people and responses you pick and choose--you might just as well not be talkin', least as far as I'm concerned.

While folks like you and Donald seem eager to hide what those you disagree with have to say by moderating your comment sections for content and limiting the number of verbatim quotes, citations, and links you use when blogging, I want nothing more than to give folks every opportunity to read exactly what you have to say, in all of it's contextual glory, and thus will quote and link to your exact words as often as I can... ...and sure, I'll even add a few if you folks don't feel I've given you enough "Look at ME!!!" time.

Everyone please, go look at Donald Douglas and Robert P. Tuttle, III. Read what they have to say. Weigh their arguments (as well as the arguments of those who disagree with 'em, of course), judge as fairly as your conscience allows, and come to your own conclusions.

Yes, I know this isn't a CRIMINAL conspiracy, and I'm not alleging it is, or that I necessarily have any legal recourse should their dastardly evil plan come to fruition and bloom, and I am actually barred from commenting everywhere on the internet, and have to spend all my time OUT THERE with REAL PEOPLE, actually organizing and voting and pushing for change, and whatnot.... (It's not highly likely, but there's no harm in leaving these dreamers with a little hope to brighten their otherwise sad days... We libs is good like dat.)

It is an ethical conspiracy, however, and a sad comment on how far some partisans will consider going (and who knows, perhaps actually go...)

It's like I recently said somewhere about Alinsky's Rules: "Every time you see them listed or discussed on a conservative site, half of the commenters describe them as evil incarnate (which for the most part, they're not... They're just political tactics folks all across the political spectrum use to make their case and reach their goals), and the other half wants to start (or keep) using them, themselves... ...and for whatever reason, the two factions never seem to acknowledge each other's viewpoints, let alone actually discuss/debate them..." It looks to me like poor Robert (Thom) is stuck arguing both sides himself in his post. On one hand, my supposed tactics are "conspiratorial crazy," "obsessive compulsive," "unoriginal," "destructive," and "reprehensible." But then he says "Unfortunately, conservatives do not engage in the same style of tactics...". It kinda looks to me like some of them just might... ...not that I'm mentioning any names, Robert...

James Casper (Repsac3) Responds, wherein Robert Tuttle attempts to prove that I was and am responsible for the posting of Dr. Douglas' workplace information, for the purpose of trying to get him fired from his job. Let's join his post, already in progress, to see what he has to say.

(For the record, most of what I'm skipping is a little one-upsmanship and peacocking, some housekeeping, and a few introductory remarks, all of which was also posted (and in that case, largely replied to) at American Nihilist. Follow any of the three links above to see for yourself...):

One of the things that you have consistently complained about is the lack of evidence to support Doctor Douglas’s claims against you. (I am conceding to your wishes here Repsac, and will refer to him as “Doctor” rather than “Professor” lest I inadvertently give your jibe any substance). The good doctor actually has given evidence to support his claims, in the way of statements and links on his blog. Perhaps you missed them. I didn’t. However, in the way of trying to make things easier for you to understand, I have simplified things somewhat. Let’s start with the basics first.

After a long (no, make that, extremely long) battle of words between Dr. Douglas, Mr. Casper (Repsac3) and others (known variously as Octopus, Captain Fogg, David Hillman, and Erik Kane – if I have spelled the names incorrectly, forgive me), said battle reached a point where certain information was posted in the internet, and in conjunction with this information, certain words were posted that could (and likely did) encourage some, including the posts author, to contact Dr. Douglas’s superiors at his place of employment. The alleged purpose being to cause Dr. Douglas to lose his job. To make this clearer, I will post what Dr. Douglas posted on his American Power blog:

A few months later, I left a couple of comments at THE SWASH ZONE, at entries posted by Captain Fogg and repsac3, as the blog is a group effort. I frankly didn't make the connection to (O)CT(O)PUS (who I later realized runs the place), and for that transgression I received this threatening warning in my e-mail inbox:

And these are my rules: DO NOT HARASS ANY OF MY WRITERS AT "THE SWASH ZONE" AGAIN. IF YOU HARASS ME OR ANY OF MY WRITERS ONE MORE TIME, I WILL NOTIFY ELOY OAKLEY AND DONALD BERZ AT YOUR PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AND TAKE IMMEDIATE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST BOTH YOU AND YOUR EMPLOYER. THIS GAME OF YOURS ENDS HERE.

We know these behaviors all too well, and why some of you bother with this pinhead is beyond me. The Coward is not welcome at THE SWASH ZONE; we delete his comments immediately. More disturbing are the comments and e-mails left by his followers: Profane, racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic … worthy of report to the FBI. What to do?

If the Coward or any of his followers harass you online you, contact President Eloy Oakley at (562) 938-4122 or Executive VP of Academic Affairs Donald Berz at (562) 938-4127 and describe the harassment. For serious online abuse or defamation, there is always this option (case file in progress).

A quick interjection... (Like Donald, ironically) Robert doesn't seem especially keen on providing too many direct quotes (though yes,in this case he did) or links and citations on those occasions where he does quote. Wherever possible, I'll add in what he left out, marked with his initials, like so: RPT: American Power: (O)CT(O)PUS = CYBER-BULLY. Also, keep this particular quote in mind... It'll come up again later...)

In response, Mr. Casper (Repsac3) related that he had nothing to do with the posting of this information. Mr. Casper goes on to state that he also doesn’t believe that either of the two individuals who contacted Dr. Douglas’s place of employment conspired together, or coordinated their actions in any way. Mr. Casper also states that Dr. Douglas have never offered any proof to suggest that the two incidents are connected.

In short, Mr. Casper states that Dr. Douglas’s assertions have no substance and he (Dr. Douglas) is lying. It is my opinion, however, that there is substantial evidence that would lead any reasonable person to draw the same conclusion that Dr. Douglas has drawn. The facts that my opinion is based on are:

Fact #1: Repsac3 (aka: W. James Casper) posts or posted on The Swash Zone, as did or do Captain Fogg and Octopus.

Fact #2: Octopus publically posted personal information regarding Dr. Douglas (his place of employment and names & phone numbers of his superiors) on The Swash Zone blog, and stated that he intended to contact Dr. Douglas’s place of employment to complain about Dr. Douglas’s online writing, and through the use of his wording encouraged others to do the same.

Fact #3: Dr. Douglas’s employers were contacted by Erik Kane and David Hillman, who complained about what Dr. Douglas was writing online. (I do not know whether Kane is “Captain Fogg” or “Octopus”, or whether Hillman is Fogg or Octopus, however, it is a reasonable assumption that Kane and Hillman are Fogg and Octopus – or Octopus and Fogg).

Fact #4: Octopus did at one time post on the American Nihilist blog, which belongs to W. James Casper, aka: Repsac3, thus establishing a connection between Repsac3 (Casper) and Octopus. This connection is further established through their connection to The Swash Zone blog.

Fact #5: Casper (Repsac3) claims that he was and is against the posting of Dr. Douglas’s information on The Swash Zone, that he was and is against the contacting of Dr. Douglas’s employers, and further claims that he disagreed with Octopus’s posting of said information, and that he suffered removal from his role as a contributor to The Swash Zone because of it. Casper’s claims do not ring true, however, as after he was allegedly removed as a contributor to The Swash Zone (due to his breaking ranks over the posting of Dr. Douglas’s information), Casper undertook a determined search to find the internet cache of the offending Swash Zone webpage that contained Dr. Douglas’s personal information, and he (Casper) then re-posted it in its entirety on his own blog, The Immoderate Monk, thus in effect, Casper also posted Dr. Douglas’s personal information, as well as the encouragement to contact Dr. Douglas’s employer.

Fact #6: W. James Casper, as Repsac3, has not only continually baited Dr. Douglas through his (Repsac3’s) posts and comments (rather than take the high road and ignore anything that Dr. Douglas may say if Repsac3 found them offensive), but Repsac3 has admittedly devoted an entire blog to publishing negative comments about Dr. Douglas, and has also devoted voluminous space on two of his other blogs to promoting negative comments and attacks on Dr. Douglas.

Conclusion: Although Repsac3 states that he disagrees with what Octopus did in posting the offending information, he did the exact same thing, ostensibly to show/prove that he (Repsac3) was not the responsible party, but the fact that he (Repsac3) reposted it, thus showing/proving his (Repsac3’s) guilt to be equal to Octopus’s, and thus, the allegations made by Dr. David Douglas do indeed have merit, as proved by W. James Casper’s own blog.

My reply (revised and extended a little from the three part comment I submitted for moderator approval Saturday, 10/22/11, at about 2:20 AM):

First off, any and all of the points that show relationships between the players and imply that the fact that we have interacted before or since these incidents means we are all collectively guilty of these incidents are bunk. Guilt by association is nonsense.

We (none of us, including any blogger you can name) don't deserve credit or blame for posts and comments we did not author... not even if they were written by bloggers we know, bloggers we have interacted with before or since, or even bloggers who did, do, or will post on the same group blogs that we do. So goes Fact #'s 1 and 4.

Fact #2 is substantially correct. It was Donald who posted the name and some of the other details about his place of employment, but Octopus (who by the way, IS David Hillman) subsequently reposted contact information he found at the college's website--where it is still posted to this very day. But I'm not Octopus, and guilt by association is still bunk. So goes Fact # 2.

E.D."Erik" Kain is a pretty well known right of center libertarian writer and blogger. As best I understand it, Donald was mad at him because Mr Kain rethought his one-time neoconservative views, and pretty much killed off a blog he used to run called NeoConstant (See: New to the Blogroll: Neoconstant | All American Blogger, and How Did I End Up In the Middle of a Blog War? | All American Blogger) Donald repeatedly lashed out at him in response, and ED Kain did eventually reach out to someone at Donald's college, in the hope that that person could get Donald to back off. (Another take, by another right of center and former NeoConstant blogger: The Blog of Walker: Donald Douglas: give it a rest, mate). Suggesting that ED Kain has any connection to or is involved in any conspiracy with David, and/or with Fogg, and/or with me, is just nuts. It's unlikely he even got the information about Donald's college from anything Octopus posted. Google is pretty easy to use, even for a one-time neocon libertarian.

And yes, David Hillman (Octopus) did subsequently use the information Octopus (David Hillman) posted to contact the college at which Dr. Douglas is employed.

(And if I may once again interject, if you're going to call what you're posting "facts," you prolly ought to've at least bought the program, so's you know the players about which you're alleging these so-called "facts." I'm just sayin'...)

Still nothing there about me, and guilt by association is still bunk. So goes Fact # 3.

I don't know where Robert's been, but internet caches ain't all that hard to find, especially if the post was only disappeared (and reconstituted by me) in the last 7-12 days. I did so because I believe in having a full and complete record of the facts (so I don't have to hypothesize or make stuff up, y'understand), especially given the years of stink I've gotten about all this, both from Donald, et. al, and from Octopus and some in his little seasunk band.

Look, I can see where this might be an issue for Robert, given that he doesn't seem to quote or link to much in the course of his own blogging, but some of us like to refer readers back to the actual posts and comments we're discussing, so they can see them for themselves, in context. Sometimes, we even quote, cite, and repost words and pictures that we most heartily disagree with, in order to express our disgust with what was posted and / or the people who originally posted them. The fact that something written by a third party is quoted on a blog does not mean that the author of the post agrees with the words contained in the quote. Often you can tell the reason they quoted the particular words by what they say outside the quote marks.

Given his line of argument in Fact # 5, I wonder whether Robert read the words on the top of my post -- why he failed to, if he did not -- and alternatively, why he's feigning ignorance about my motivation for posting those screen grabs, if as I suspect, he did read my introductory explanation...

Also... In point of fact, Robert, Dr. Douglas quotes and links to that very same post and passage on his blog as the one we're discussing here.... (and so by extension, I suppose you've done so now, as well) ...but because someone over at the Swash Zone killed off the post last week, the Dr's links are no longer any good. But had Robert and I been having this debate two weeks ago, Donald and I would be showing the same links to the same Swash Zone post, with the same workplace information available from both blogs. (via link, only, on mine, and actually quoted on Donald's.) I'd even go so far as to bet that you'll find more instances of Dr. Douglas' workplace information being posted on Donald's own blog, often complete with the exhortation to "Call these people if Dr. Douglas harasses you" than you will at any other site. Something to consider, that.

Sorry, Robert... Unless you're arguing that every conservative who posts pictures or videos of an anti-semitic liberal on their blog is themselves anti-semitic, (because it is the fact of the post, rather than their reason for posting it, that's important) Fact # 5 is a non-starter...

And, Robert, just one more thing to consider:

Fact #6, while overwrought and hyperbolic, has a few truths, but none that apply to the case at hand.

While I spend a whole lot more time responding to Dr. Douglas' crazy conspiratorial charges, of late, I did and still do enjoy pulling Dr. Douglas' chain. Just the threat that I might submit a comment to his moderated blog sends him into fits of apoplexy and full page ALL CAPS, inappropriately. punctuated. spittle-flecked. rants. (often with those WHOO HOO!!'s and ROTFLMFAO!!'s that you found so "insightful and elucidating" when you took note of them in your first post--back when you thought I authored them, of course.)

You're also correct that I don't often ignore what Dr. Douglas posts... Given your vehemence about me in your first post--to the point that you were--though hopefully not still are--threatening to underhandedly sabotage my commenting, by getting a mob together to flag my comments as offensive (again, for ideological content and partisan gain, rather than because they actually deserve to be flagged), in the hopes that I will be banned from commenting on as many sites as possible--I would think you'd understand that just ignoring a problem and hoping it will go away generally isn't the answer. (Of course, neither is underhanded bullshit like the tactic you threatened.) I do challenge Dr. Douglas' posts whenever I have the time and the wherewithal to do so... Not because I'm offended by him, but because I believe he is lying, or overlooking an important perspective or set of facts, and because it's important to stand up for one's point of view.

It'd take too long to explain the birth of the blog American Nihilist... Suffice to say, it started off as a parody, but because I got comfortable with American Power--unlike most folks, I prefer to stay in one place and kind of "adopt" one blogger at a time, rather than taking on a different rightwing blog and blogger everyday--and because Donald's reaction to it has been so over-the-top absurd, AmNi has kept chuggin' along...

We've already done the "several blogs" bit... I explained that I have different blogs for different purposes, including one where I discuss Dr. Douglas, and another where I repost pretty much every blog post and comment I make on the internet--and yes, by definition, those two blogs will contain some of the same posts and comments about things Dr. Douglas has said, won't they?... As many times as you bring it up, the answer will stay the same... Several blogs, including one that regularly discusses Donald Douglas and the posts at American Power.

All well and good, so far, and we're actually discussing me, in this fact... But up to now, we've been focusing on the claim that I am somehow involved with (if not actually responsible for) attacks on Dr. Douglas' livelihood... But Robert, those claims are nowhere to be found here in Fact # 6... Now it's about pulling Donald's chain, and how many blogs I have and how often I use Donald's name on one of 'em... ...and that ain't going to cut the mustard, bro... Fact # 6, too, fails inspection.

The conclusion is just a bad remix of #5, id'nit? #'s 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 barely play into it, at all...

And as I said in reply to Fact # 5 proper, to convict me over the fact that I repeated a post containing Don's workplace info, without regard for WHY I repeated the post containing Don's workplace info, is to convict every conservative blogger (or for that matter, newspaper writer, talking head, radio personality, ...) who quotes a liberal argument (or posts examples of racism, anti-semitism, hypocrisy, anti-christian bigotry, ..., ...) of in effect supporting and propagating those liberal or bigoted ideas via their quotes and reposts--because according to what you're saying in Fact 5 and in this conclusion, it doesn't matter WHY they (re)posted or re-aired them, only THAT they did so.

Stop and look around the conservative blogosphere, Robert... Flip through your blogroll... Check your own archives... Hell, check this very post, where you indict me for quoting a particular post with particular info, AND THEN QUOTE THE VERY SAME POST AND INFO...

...and then think about this, Robert...

Given the circumstances, "Fact" # 5/conclusion-wise... Are you sure this is really the argument you want to go with?

Around the same time that Octo--

(Sorry... I only ever knew the guy as Octopus, and I'm not altogether certain that "David Hillman" isn't an alias, as well, for what it's worth)

--posted his piece on The Swash Zone, he also authored a similar post at American Nihilist...

...AND, though I spoke out against it, I didn't demand that he remove it or delete the thing myself, preferring instead to treat Octo as the adult he was, and allowing him to do the right thing--or face the consequences of not doing the right thing-- on his own. (Little did I know that three years later, I'd still have people blaming and haranguing me for what Octo wrote... Yeesh!!!)

AND, when Octo suddenly and silently bailed out of his authorship at American Nihilist, and then removed my authorship privileges at the Swash Zone, I STILL didn't delete the post, which at this point had several links and references to it, mostly from Donald's blog posts and comment sections. Instead, I cut out the names, titles, and phone numbers of the people to contact, and left the post, well, posted, believing that it was worth keeping it up as an everlasting record of what was (and wasn't) said in the post and comments and by who, but that the tools to commit any harassment (the actual info) had no place on the blog, unless there was anyone left willing to defend it... ...which there wasn't.

There you have it. Donald believes that my actions constitute endorsement, and I wouldn't be surprised if you take that line, as well... But regardless, that's what I did and why... ...and even knowing what I know now, I believe I'd handle the situation the same way, if I had it to do over, again. -- My reasons were sound, and in keeping with my philosophy of individual, personal responsibility for individual acts--not crediting or blaming others for what one party says or does*... ...even if some of the folks I was and am still dealing with were (are) less adult than I thought...

*The guy or gal with the bigoted sign at the protest doesn't speak for EVERYONE in the protest, and the whole group or movement is not responsible for every individual attendee, no matter whether that protest is a Tea Party event or Occupy Wall Street, for instance... ...And the guy who posts another blogger's workplace info and tries to get others to harass the guy... ... UPDATE: Robert Tuttle (pretender Thom) has allowed the comment in question to appear after all, (at least partially--I submitted it in two parts, but he only approved the second of the two) and even replied here (IR) and here (AmNi). (Long and short of it is, he's in control of his blog (and will therefore approve comments (or not) on his timetable--and at least some of the time, anyway, his timetable includes holding comments until he has written his reply to them, so he can post them both simultaneously--and thus never have ideas with which he does not agree just hangin' out there on his blog, unanswered.)

It really doesn't bother you to be so dishonest in the first instance--anyone who actually read any of my blog posts and comments could not make the false accusations you do--and then be so unwilling to post my comments in rebuttal and respond to them, in the second?

Congratulations on your wholly dishonest "victory" over me, Thom... ...but you and I both know that lying, refusing to face your opponent, and blindly marking comments "offensive" is a pretty pathetic way to "win" an argument... (assuming your conscience will even allow you to call it a win, in the first place...)

I guess I can only hope that some of the folks who take your advice and Google up my posts will actually read them, and have enough confidence in their values and beliefs to openly and honestly disagree with what I have to say...

I hope you won't mind if I step in to clarify a few things... (I'm not even going to bother with the specious ad hom and misunderstanding of my political views, as none of it is germane to the topic at hand...)

It seems the chief instigator of the attacks on Prof. Douglas is one W. James Casper, a liberal socialist who has become so enamored with the destruction of Prof. Douglas that of Casper’s six different liberal blogs he personally writes, he has devoted voluminous space on three of them just to his attacks on Prof. Douglas. One of these blogs contains numerous posts offering the most insightful and elucidating verbiage “ROTFLMFAO!!, WHOO HOO!!, BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!, & LOL!!!” written repeatedly, hundreds of times, as if Mr. Casper were an obsessive compulsive on speed.

Only one blog, American Nihilist, regularly discusses Dr. Douglas. (The man has a Ph.D... Show him some respect.) A second, What'd I Say, is a catch-all for everything I put out there, from cross posts from my other blogs, to this very comment, whether or not you choose to allow it to show up here at your blog... (after it's written and submitted, of course...) The third, called Malicious Content--the one you reference here with all of the “ROTFLMFAO!!, WHOO HOO!!, BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!, & LOL!!!” nonsense, is a blog dedicated to recording trollage and spam, and the particular "elucidating verbiage" you refer to are word-for-word transcripts of comments made by the very guy you're defending, Dr. Douglas. That said, I agree with your characterizations of both the comments themselves and the person who wrote them.

As for whether or not I'm instigating attacks on Dr. Douglas, the only one's I'll accept credit for are my own--most of which, especially of late, have been responses to posts and comments made by Dr. Douglas, and all of which never leave the blog realm... (...with one exception... I do own a "Sasquatch Israel" tee-shirt, which I obviously wear in my offline world.)

Leaving aside the fact that only the government can curtail anyone's First Amendment rights, and I'm a private citizen, exactly what leads you to the conclusion that I want to curtail Dr. Douglas' speech or have him fired from his job in the first place, particularly since I repeatedly say quite the opposite in my posts and comments, including speaking out clearly and consistently against those who've contacted the college where Dr. Douglas is employed--the impetus for Zilla's initial post, and thus this one, as well? Is there some specific link(s), post(s), or comment(s) that you can reference in support of your claims, or is this just some vague feeling you have when the moon rises, and the bats take wing?

Liberal Socialist Attacks College Professor

As we are all too familiar with, liberal socialist attacks on conservatives is commonplace. Whether at the various “Occupy” protests around our country, or on the many conservative blogs, or even from the Oval Office itself, these folks just can’t seem to help themselves. Whenever they are faced with truth (which happens anytime anyone takes an unbiased look into their beliefs) they come unglued. Along with their usual bag of tricks which include ad hominem attacks, circular reasoning, name calling, yelling incoherently, mindless chants, illogical babbling and outright lies, we can now add libelous attacks designed to destroy lives and livelihoods.

I first learned about the attacks on Professor Donald Douglas through a very insightful and well written article over at the Zilla of the Resistance blog. Entitled Stand Against Evil – Never Let it Win, Zilla’s article outlines just what has been happening to Prof. Douglas. By the way, in case you didn’t know, Prof. Douglas is the author of the American Power blog.

It seems the chief instigator of the attacks on Prof. Douglas is one W. James Casper, a liberal socialist who has become so enamored with the destruction of Prof. Douglas that of Casper’s six different liberal blogs he personally writes, he has devoted voluminous space on three of them just to his attacks on Prof. Douglas. One of these blogs contains numerous posts offering the most insightful and elucidating verbiage “ROTFLMFAO!!, WHOO HOO!!, BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!, & LOL!!!” written repeatedly, hundreds of times, as if Mr. Casper were an obsessive compulsive on speed.

After spending the day reading all six of Mr. Casper’s blogs (stopping only for the occasional trip to the porcelain throne – you know what they say “what goes in, comes out”), but refraining from reading his Huffington Post comments (leftist drivel rarely changes, and Casper’s doesn’t), I came to the conclusion that W. James Casper needs to loosen the hat band on his tin foil cap, and try ever so hard to come up with something original. Well, actually I guess he did in that most liberal socialists do not spend such an exorbitant amount of time (and bandwidth) trying to destroy someone simply because of their views. And that seems to be the crux of the issue with W. James Casper (aka: Repsac3), namely Prof. Douglas’s views. Casper (not to be confused with Casper the Friendly Ghost, who is actually quite benign) seems to want to curtail Prof. Douglas’s First Amendment right to free speech, while at the same time demanding he be allowed to continue defaming Douglas’s character, assumedly in the hopes that Douglas would be fired from his job.

But alas, isn’t defamation of character just another tool in the liberal socialist bag of tricks? Of course it is. And if Casper manages to get his way, and Prof. Douglas is terminated from his position, well, then of course his family will suffer, but I am sure that Casper will consider them “collateral damage.”

All in all, W. James Casper is a liberal socialist troll, and a troll of the first order. His blogs reflect this, his comments on other blogs reflect this, his tweets reflect this, and his Facebook wall reflects this. Unfortunately, conservatives do not engage in the same style of tactics used by W. James Wilson, otherwise he would likely find his blogs and twitter feed and Facebook wall flooded by the comments of conservatives outraged by his reprehensible actions. Of course, the lack of such a flood only encourages and emboldens cretins such as W. James Wilson to continue their attack on truth. Wilson has been banned not only on Prof. Douglas’s blog, but also on Andrew Breitbart’s site as well. Perhaps we should each make a concerted effort to Google search the names W. James Casper and Repsac3, find out what sites he is commenting on, and flag each of his comments as offensive. Perhaps if enough of us do this, Casper will find himself banned throughout the web, and be forced back to the liberal socialist sty from whence he came. Because if he isn’t stopped, then he will just continue. Why? Because this is what trolls do, whether they are liberal socialists like Casper, or islamic terrorists. The lack of a concerted effort to stop them just encourages them to continue what they are doing, and we must ask ourselves, is Prof. Douglas the only target, and who will be next? Just a thought.

W. James Casper has clearly and consistently spoken out against EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has ever threatened to or actually contacted Long Beach City College to complain about Donald Douglas' online antics. Donald's suggestion that anyone has ever said or done ANYTHING to or about him to anyone at my bidding or on my behalf--leaving me with clean hands and "plausible denial"--is paranoid conspiratorial nonsense. If you read his post(s) carefully, you'll note that he NEVER OFFERS ANY EVIDENCE THAT I PLAY ANY PART IN ANY INCIDENT--and in fact, if you follow the link that concludes this paragraph, you'll find many examples of my speaking out against such behavior, against Donald or anyone else, for any reason, written at the time the incidents occurred or were being discussed. (I also don't believe that any two of the folks who contacted Long Beach City College about Dr Douglas over the years conspired to do so or coordinated their actions, and Donald has never offered any proof suggesting any two incidents are linked in any way.) Now back to the post at hand, in response to Donald's prior post accusing me of conspiring and coordinating these workplace incidents, written Thursday, October 13--a whole three days ago...

I invite any and all to read it through, and then to comment below if you see any evidence of Donald's allegation that the post "confirms [my] clinical obsession with seeing [him] fired." (Or, if you can't figure out what he's talking about either-- or perhaps believe that the post below suggests quite the opposite of what Dr. Douglas is alleging it does --may I suggest that you consider those facts when evaluating my posted statements and Donald's... ...and then, if you're brave enough to risk becoming another of his eeeeevil, niiiiihilist enemies for daring to question the great and powerful Douglas (who, in making these specious allegations and calling folks "assholes and dickwipes," apparently believes himself to be on a mission from God, which itself oughta tell ya something), may I suggest that you offer a comment to his post***, asking him to provide the specific quote(s) to which he's referring in making such a crazy, fact-free allegation. (***Sadly, Donald has removed any possibility to comment publicly on his recent post... ...which leads one to question what it is he's hiding... Poor Donald... He's once again putting forth the theory that when other folks contact his workplace, suggest he's not fit to be in the classroom, or ridicule or criticize him in any way, shape, or form, *I* am somehow responsible, as though I am some eeeeevil genius who has minions who hang on my every word and act in my stead (thus giving me "plausible denial," y'understand...) The following is the latest iteration of Donald Douglas' paranoid theory:

I was notified of yet another round of workplace attacks at the college.

I don't yet know who's once again contacting my employer (I should know next week),

Donald admits he doesn't know who contacted Long Beach City College, and yet he's already making accusations, both about the person he thinks actually did it, and against me, because the guy he's accusing left a few comments on my blog over the years, including a few in the last few days.

...but I've got a clue. It turns out that Captain Fogg left a comment at stalking hate-blogger W. James Casper's hell-hole, American Nihilist: Donald Douglas: Pathetic and Insecure (but proud right wing squirmer):
I certainly don't participate in what anyone but you would call retaliation, but then I'm not as worried as you that I've stepped over the line of common decency. You in fact, have good reason for retrospection and introspection. At this point I worry for the public at large and for students taught by you. I think you sound dangerous. I almost expect to see you in some headline some day.

I have no problem with people being called to task for harm they might have done to others. As an educated man, you certainly can distinguish between justice and retaliation even if you're somehow unable to get any point across without behaving like a foul-mouthed and spoiled little boy with serious self-esteem and impulse control problems.

How this makes me improperly retaliative or dishonest in your eyes, is beyond me, but then I know more about electrical engineering than about abnormal psychology.

So do you think people need to know about how you express yourself or is someone "retaliating" for quoting you? You either stand behind your words or you have your nose rubbed in them. It's up to you.

Was it you who showed up out of the blue at The Impolitic raving about impotence and penises and stupidity and all that after a rather dry assessment of Mitt Romney? Seems odd that you could dare to accuse anybody of excess after that repetitive example of your obsessive and obscene program of hounding and punishing anyone who writes anything you disagree with. The only reason I'm here is that you were there.

Frankly I think you're so far beyond the bounds of responsible civilized behavior that some public light should be shed on it and you know it because you wouldn't be squirming and squealing about persecution if you didn't know damn well how inappropriate it is for a teacher of young people to be what you are. You've got a body of "work" out there and it speaks for itself and it doesn't speak well of you.
I'll know more later about this. Folks can read the whole comment thread at that top Google result. I have no idea what Fogg is talking about with "retaliation." But I can say that this is the new line of attack from W. James Casper's demonic band of progressive totalitarians.

It's odd that Donald has no idea what Fogg was talking about as regards retaliation, since it was Donald who first used the word in the comment thread, and Fogg was responding to Don's comment...

My record as concerns contacting the workplace of someone you disagree with online should be crystal clear by this point--even to Dr. Donald Douglas, Pee HD, and the fact is, Fogg and I have disagreed about the particulars of Donald's situation and whether his words and deeds merit contacting Long Beach City College from the get-go.

(In fact, the only comment I ever had moderated out of existence by a liberal blog was this one, arguing with Fogg and others AGAINST contacting Donald's workplace. As a result of this disagreement, my affiliation with the owner of that blog came to an abrupt and unannounced end, when he removed his authorship here at AmNi, and removed my authorship there at The Swash Zone, without discussing either move with me ahead of time.)

That said, I respect Fogg's right to state his case in favor of contacting LBCC, both back in 2009, and--if that's what he was doing--again in the last day or so. And if Fogg ever did contact LBCC, he did not do so at my urging or with my blessing. He is not my "henchman." As with the others who've threatened to or actually contacted LBCC, whatever Fogg says or does, he says or does by his own volition, and I am not responsible for his or anyone else's actions, or the credit or scorn that results from what they say and do.

It's a variation on the old line: "Dr. Douglas has no business being in front of a classroom." And so in the progressive mind, this is reason enough to mount campaigns of libel and workplace harassment for the sole purpose of getting me fired. This was the attack of the atheists some time back, during the Elizabeth Edwards backlash. This was the same basic attack launched by Carl Salamipants and one of the asshats at Lawyers, Guns and Money. And this has been W. James Casper's latest ploy to continue his hate campaign of sponsoring threats against my livelihood.

I do believe that Donald Douglas lacks the temperament to appear in public, let alone teaching students, but by many student accounts he is a proficient professor... ...and--while I'm shocked that he can act like such an opinionated, vindictive buffoon online, and not be that same person in the classroom--that's good enough for me. As I've said many times before, making sure Donald does his job appropriately is up to his employers, and I hope they're paying attention... ...but barring evidence of a credible threat to harm someone at Long Beach City College, I will let LBCC pay as much or as little attention to Donald Douglas as they choose.

I don't know the details of these other situations where folks have contacted LBCC--I never asked, and they folks involved never offered any info, either--but I played no part in their actions, before, during, or after the fact. If Donald had evidence to the contrary, he would've offered it by now... He won't. He can't. It doesn't exist.

Donald's claim of "sponsorship" consists of the fact that I allow these individuals to comment here--and in one case from 2009, be an author here. (The fact is, everyone except spammers are welcome.) Of course, I also allow Donald to comment here, and no one--including Donald--has ever suggested that that PROVES I sponsor his nonsense. I let people have their say, whether I agree with 'em or not, and if what they have to say interests me, I respond... It's called blogging.

Now it's not just that I'm conservative, but that I use salty language in responding to these assholes. Yep, they're assholes and dickwipes and I have no problem pointing it out. So now, yet again, we've got the same bunch of idiots down with the defecations on Wall Street screaming like stuck pigs and contacting my employer? Heaven forbid I used some profanity! Fire that man! He's a danger to the commons!

Donald's wimpy profanity (the man uses asterisks to "protect" his delicate sensibilities when he writes "fuck") is hardly an issue for much of anyone... Most of us see it as his attempt to prove his manliness, but, because his purpose is so obvious, it has the opposite effect. And again, not even Donald knows who contacted his employer, so his excited ejaculations on the whole subject seem awful premature... (I'm not saying it couldn't be Fogg or some other blogger or commenter I've heard of, but the fact is, Donald is obviously and admittedly shooting off his fool mouth before he knows who or what he's even talking about...)

Fogg mentions Libby Spencer's The Impolitic, where I commented last week. But those comments have been deleted, so there's no actual record of what Fogg's talking about.

How creepy is it that Donald's "defense" is "you can't prove what I said in those comments?" (Of course, Donald forgets that anyone who gets blog comments via e-mail has a copy of everything he posted...)

And that's it exactly: If someone disagrees with comment at a blog they can delete it, or they can moderate them in advance. But for stalking asshats like Casper and Fogg it's always about contacting my employer, and making libelous allegations.

Sadly for Douglas, none of that has ever happened, at least as far as I'm concerned... For all his bullshit and bluster, Donald Douglas has no evidence that I have ever contacted LBCC... ...because I never have. He has no evidence that I ever instructed anyone else to do so, either... ...because I never have. (And like I said, there are a myriad of comments and quotes where I have expressly come out against anyone who ever contemplated or actually did contact LBCC.) Donald's conspiratorial "henchmen" fantasy is the product of a vindictively partisan feverishly paranoid mind. Even his "libelous allegations" bit as concerns me melts when confronted... For all his legal blather about lawyers and the police, he's never actually pulled that trigger... ...because he can't, and he knows it. I have never "harassed" or "intimidated" or "stalked" or "libeled" him. (And I'd venture to guess that his allegations to the contrary--being declarations that I have broken the law--are more legally actionable than anything I've ever posted about him.)

Notice above how Fogg claims I'm "dangerous." That would be perfect, wouldn't it, to allege that "Donald Douglas is a danger to his students and the college community, and he shouldn't be permitted anywhere near a classroom full of impressionable students"?

I sometimes wonder myself--especially given Donald's recent conspiratorial fantasies about me--but I trust that the relevant authorities and supervisors will see that glint of madness in his eyes before he actually does any harm.

BONUS: Hey Fogg, here's the link to the properly spelled "Murphry's Law," and you can thank your idiot hate-sponsor RACIST = REPSAC3 on the origins of your epic self-douche. BWAHAHAHA!!!!!

Sadly, no, on both counts...

Follow the link... There is only one "R" in Muphry's Law. Donald fucked it up yet again... (...yet again proving that Muphry's Law--that any written criticism of someone else's spelling, grammar or usage will contain at least one error in spelling, grammar, or usage--is all too often true, and that Donald ought to stay off that high horse of his, before he really hurts himself by falling off so often...)

And no, Fogg actually didn't make a spelling, grammar, or usage error in correcting what he had every right to think was Don's spelling error. (...though it was ironic that he corrected the only instance where Dr Douglas actually spelled "Muphry's Law" correctly.) Donald gave him no clue that he was referring to the law about spelling errors--the title of which is an INTENTIONAL misspelling of "Murphy's Law,"--though not the misspelling that Donald keeps using--and yet Dr Douglas is trying to hold him responsible for reading his mind and knowing what Donald was intending to say. Since he made no error in spelling, grammar, or usage, in the comment where he corrected Donald's misspelling of "Murphy's" Law, "Muphry's" Law doesn't apply, much as Donald may wish it did.

So thanks for playing, Donald, and bwaaahaha.

EXTRA: The only reference to "penises" I can think of would be "Captain Fogg Just Can't Go Long!" And that's a parody, protected by the First Amendment. But hey, progressive totalitarians hate free speech!!

I'm pretty sure Fogg didn't question Don's right to so often blog about penis, but the wisdom of his doing so, and what all of that penis talk says about ol' Don...

Added: The funniest thing about these kinda tactics lists (whether this Charles guy's, or the eeeevil Alinsky's "rules," which I've ONLY ever seen / heard about on con sites... though I did recently buy the books, to see what all the fuss was about); Every time you see them listed or discussed on a conservative site, half of the commenters describe them as evil incarnate (which for the most part, they're not... I know of no definition of the word fascist that includes describing where and how folks protest, so no, it's not fascist. If the "pro-government forces" actually worked for the government and were being ordered to act on the government's behalf, Don Surber might have a slightly stronger case--but even then, he'd then be describing the police and the military as fascists, which kinda makes him sound like a left wing extremist... ...or a member of a right wing extremist militia group defending their compound.

Citizens, whether protesting in favor or opposed to a particular government action, policy, or form--and really, even those opposed to the government as it is are protesting in favor of government as they want it to be and the politicians advocating for those changes, making almost everyone "pro-government"--are not equivalent to armed and organized martial units enforcing the wishes of the government for money.

That said, I disagree with protesting at folks homes or in any way involving innocent family members, no matter who the target(s) of the protest or the folks doing the protesting are...

A march through a particular neighborhood is one thing--and some of the accounts I'm reading say they plan to (or have) pass(ed) by the homes. To the extent that that's all they plan to do (or did), I have no problem with that; massing on an individual's lawn and shouting is quite another. (I was opposed to the tactic when it was used against abortion providers, and I'm just as opposed now.)

At least partially in response to a month old blog comment posted elsewhere, where I suggested that, regardless of what Donald's hit counter is showing him, fewer and fewer people are taking him seriously as a political scientist, a college professor, or a blogger (folks do often watch train wrecks or the mentally ill ranting in public, but that doesn't mean they like or respect what they're seeing and hearing) Donald brags about his blog hits and a recent NYT quote (while simultaneously pretending not to care at all about any of it, natch), saying

And for all we know, that may've been just a matter of when he hit the "post" button... They were looking for right wing squirmers, and they found one in Don...)

But to me, all of that is beside the point...

The real question is, what would the New York Times think--indeed, what are any of us to think--if they were to read the piece he just posted, where Donald's first thought after seeing himself quoted in the New York Times was to lash out at me? How much respect can anyone have for a guy who, as a result of being quoted in the NYT, feels compelled to write such a nasty little post? What does it say about his professionalism, his decency, or even his emotional well-being? How does it reflect on Long Beach City College, where he is an associate professor in the political science department? What does Donald's post say about him as a professor, a political scientist, or as a person?

The big bad secret is that THAT was my point in making that month-old comment in the first place. Donald Douglas isn't very well respected in the ~~blogesphere~~ (edit: blogosphere), and one of the main reasons is that he's a petty, thin-skinned, vindictive blowhard who cannot resist lashing out personally at those with whom he does not agree politically or socially, regardless of political ideology or past friendship. Dr Douglas sees those he disagrees with not as wrong or ignorant, but as evil and as enemies, which is sad for him, and none too pleasant for anyone who has to spend time in his physical or even verbal presence...

I mean, go back and reread Dr Douglas' post... How pathetic and insecure does one have to be to turn being quoted in the New York Times into some silly and fact-free attack post, especially in response to a month old blog comment?

Perhaps one day he'll grow up... ...but sadly, it's just as likely that perhaps he never will...

Those willing to drop being a registered Republican or Democrat (or Green, or Libertarian, or...) for the chance to influence the primary outcome of another party should be allowed to do so... ...but at the cost of not being able to influence their own party's primary outcome.

I believe the political process needs it's ideologues (be they "extreme" left, right, or center), but it also needs it's practical voters and elected officials who're willing to make the compromises that move the country forward. To that end, I want the parties to vote for their ideologues and the independents to vote and give voice to the most electable candidates, and have both the party and the independent primaries count toward choosing the nominees.

In his most recent post, Donald tries to equate my support for marriage equality to pedophilia. As always, it's a specious charge to make, and again exposes the way Dr Douglas thinks about the gay folks around him, and about his tenuous hold on the truth.

Other than one link to me saying that folks have told me that Donald Douglas is a lost cause not worth debating online--one even suggesting that he might be dangerous--and my saying that I believed it was worth it, in order to expose a way of thinking that I believe is harmful to this country, Donald never quotes me, preferring instead to tell you what he claims I've said. (This is a common trick by Dr. Douglas... By paraphrasing his "enemy" rather than quoting him, Donald can create whatever narrative he wishes, without having to confront the other person's actual words or their actual connotative and denotative meanings. I'd imagine he thinks the people who read his posts are too foolish or blinded by partisanship to notice his deception or to care... ...and sadly, perhaps a few actually are...)

A few specifics...

Sadly, no. Were Donald brave enough to quote the things I've said about morality (whether sexual or otherwise), I'm sure he'd find that I advocate for both self-imposed and legally-mandated limits on behavior. While I do believe in personal freedom, personal freedom is not and should not be absolute. Donald Douglas is lying.

Again, sadly no. I have no problem with anyone discussing their own traditional moral values, and I've never attacked anyone for doing so. I have objected when folks have expressed the desire to make all Americans--whatever their religious or moral background--subject to laws based on the teachings of Christ (or God, or Buddha, or any other religious figure). America is not a theocracy, and American laws must have a secular basis in man's law, not God's law. I also don't buy into the Family Research Council's definition of civil rights, which suggests that all protected classes must be "inborn"--or mentioned in the Constitution (a clever way of including religion, which of course is not inborn, without tipping their hand)--or they are not legitimate. I want Americans protected from discrimination by law (and in law), and I include discrimination against gay Americans in those legal protections.

Most recently, I have come down on Donald Douglas for suggesting that posts eulogizing and memorializing marriage equality and women's health activist Christina Santiago were exploiting her death for political gain. (See: NoH8, Dr. Douglas and Donald Douglas attacks them again, for noticing). I believe that this is what has Dr. Douglas so upset--and so willing to fabricate these lies--in the post to which I'm responding. Your milage may vary...

"Like the endless progressive claims of "racism," [repsac3] screams "BIGOTRY!!" like a headless horseman charging along full-steam until the word is denuded of all meaning. It's just an epithet for attacking folks..."

Those familiar with the back and forth between Donald and I should recognize this passage as parroting (in an "I'm rubber, you're glue" style) things I've often said about Donald Douglas and his one-time use of the word "nihilist" to describe and denote pretty much everyone with whom he disagreed. (Recent substitutes include "communist-left," "ASFL," "extremist", ...), but for those unfamiliar, three examples from the last three years:

I wrote (in 2009): "Your NeoRaven-like chirpings of "Nihilist!" "Nihilist!" aimed at everyone with whom you disagree, and your unwillingness and inability to back much of what you say has made you seem weak and ineffective."

From 2010: "As Donald attacked other bloggers on his site or theirs, labeling them no good nihilists everywhere he went, this whole "nihilist" schtick of his became kind of a joke around the liberal blogosphere, and folks began to know him as the wingnut who goes around calling everyone nihilists, like the boy who cried wolf... He practically made the word meaningless through repetition..."

And from less than three weeks ago: "Terms like "nihilist" and. "racist" and "Stalinist" (and I've no doubt "anarchist" and "terrorist," as well) are nothing more than epithets to Donald. He might just as well be calling folks fucktard or asshat for all the accuracy with which redeploys them. Donald Douglas disagrees with you; Donald Douglas calls you a name... A meaningless, insulting, fact free name... And he thinks he's actually said something of substance by doing so... It's kinda pathetic..."

The fact is you'll seldom find me suggesting that someone is a bigot without my including a direct quote and link citing the full post or comment from which the quote was lifted, for context. Try holding Dr Douglas' accusations to that standard, and you'll quickly find it is one he often cannot or will not meet. I leave it to the reader to figure out why...

"And as we've seen in recent posts, today's truly extremist hatred and demonology is the exclusive domain of the progressive left."

Absolutes like these--where "they" are always evil, and "we" are always angels--should tip one off to the fact that Donald Douglas is preaching his own pseudo-religious catechism of conservative love and liberal hate, and nothing more.

Anyone who is being realistic is willing to admit that there are devils and angels all along the sociopolitical spectrum, and that pinpointing individual acts by individual actors does not say much of anything about the whole of any sociopolitical group... not the ones you (or "he") belong(s) to, or the ones you (or "she") do(es) not belong to. (There are words for those who attribute the sins (or accomplishments) of the individual to everyone in the groups to which that individual belongs... It'll come to me... Suffice to say, such bullshit thinking seldom leads anywhere worthwhile or good.)

"And W. James Casper is right up there as among the worst of the worst radical hate-bloggers in the world. No facts can get inside that warped mind. No outrage is evil enough to make W. James Casper speak up and cry, "Enough!'' Hate envelops all sense and meaning and moral right. Decency has been obliterated."

Donald is welcome to his opinions, of course... ...but a quick perusal of my posts pretty quickly puts the lie to his words, beginning with those posts about Donald's disrespect for Christina Santiago and those who mourn her death that I spoke about and linked to earlier... Much of what I discuss is about my morality and decency, and the morality and decency (or lack of it) of those I write about.

I believe that where consenting adults are concerned, the neighbors and the government have no more business judging what folks do behind closed doors than those consenting adults are willing to give them. Obviously, that does not include rape, statutory or otherwise... But that pretty obvious fact doesn't stop Donald Douglas from alleging:

No quotes, and a complete disregard for the obvious in the very words he paraphrased--(and when even your own paraphrase contradicts you, you've exposed the utter ridiculousness of your argument)--but Donald Douglas presses on, lying and libeling for all to see...

Donald obviously doesn't like me. (One might even use the words "Hate Blogger" to describe Donald Douglas.) For most of us, the articles and posts commemorating Christina are about mourning the death of a pretty, young, motivated activist and human being. The only one politicizing Christina's death or trying to exploit it for political gain is Donald Douglas. To the best of my knowledge, the only person who is attacking NOH8 and those who mourn Christina, as person or as an activist, for what they've written about her since her death is Donald Douglas. This isn't about Republicans, conservatives, Christians, or even about homophobes and bigots. This is about Donald Douglas, and about his need to destroy what he cannot accept or understand, no matter the cost to his own humanity. That Dr. Douglas is trying to turn it around and paint those who call him out for his bigoted insensitivity toward Christina Santiago and her friends and family as the aggressors is really disgusting... For those familiar with Donald Douglas, however, it isn't that surprising.

Sure, I could refute the thing point by point, exposing all of Dr. Douglas' lies... But with ad hominem attacks like this, why even bother? I know the truth, my friends--offline, online, and fellow nihilists--know the truth, and when it comes right down to it, down in that tiny part of his soul that hasn't yet been tainted by partisanship and bile, Donald Douglas knows the truth, too. There's no need to "prove" a thing to anyone...

And besides... Doesn't the attack itself say more about Dr Douglas than any expose of his nonsense ever could?

It seems Donald Douglas has once again allowed his political and sociological beliefs to cloud his humanity.

After reading about the death of LGBT, marriage equality, and woman's rights activist Christina Santiago at the Indiana State Fair (she was one of five people who died when the concert stage blew over just before the Sugarland concert), and seeing the touching tribute paid to her by the NOH8 Campaign-- Christina and her partner, Alisha Marie Brennon, who was with Christina at the concert and is currently in intensive care, participated in an open call NOH8 photo shoot in 2010 --let his emotions and his bigotry take over, resulting in the following post:

This is disgusting.

They couldn't just giver her a beautiful commemoration. They had to turn Ms. Santiago death into sick sympathy shakedown:
Tragedies like this just illustrate how important it is for couples to have the rights that allow them to celebrate their love and their lives now.

Christina and Alisha were one of the first couples to get a civil union in Cook County when civil unions became legal in Illinois earlier this year. Those who claim the issue of same sex marriages and civil unions can "wait" should think hard about that idea after reading stories like these. This beautiful couple only had a short few months together to celebrate their civil union -- but we take solace in the fact they at least had that opportunity to prove their love to the world, however brief.
A beautiful young woman is dead. And LGBT ASFL NOH8 couldn't simply commemorate her life with dignity. These idiots had to turn it into some kind of epic guilt trip about "only" a few months to celebrate a civil union.

People die. And always, every death reminds us for whom the bell tolls. It toll for thee.

Read the NOH8 Campaign post "Remembering Christina Santiago"--the one Donald refers to as a "sick sympathy shakedown"--and decide for yourself whether it was suitably dignified and reserved, or an "epic guilt trip." But Donald's habit of making these kinda pronouncements so soon after folks die (See his series on the death of Elizabeth Edwards, for example. Links below.) is the real "crass exploitation for political gain," as far as I'm concerned...

A reply to Donald Douglas' most recent serving of specious allegations.

At the outset, let me just say that anytime someone says "no need to even read the whole thing" when the thing in question discusses something you care about, that's a sure sign to pay closer attention to the words the guy is speaking, watch to make sure his hands stay out of your pockets, and definitely "read the whole thing" ...with a dictionary and a good lawyer, if the thing in question is important enough to you.

In this case, I can completely understand it if you don't give a damn about Donald Douglas, repsac3, these specious allegations, or anything either of us have ever written on the subject. If they weren't about me, I probably would've stopped following this saga myself by now, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that no one bothers to read Donald's screeds about me or my rebuttals of Dr. Douglas' screeds about me except Donald and I. Even if you believe Donald is telling the complete truth (or that I am), and you support him (me) fully, the whole thing is just getting' old and stale...

So if that's where you're at; If you just couldn't give a flying purple fig about what Donald is accusing me of or about my rebuttals of his accusations, or you've already made up your mind, and don't wish to give any of it another thought, you're free to go, with my blessings... If you find something neat to read or do elsewhere, feel free to come on back and leave a link to it in the comments... The fact is, there's a whole lot that's better and more interesting than this--even root canal, and I wish I wasn't here talking about it, myself...

Now if you are still here and reading this, you must care enough about some aspect of the saga or of one of the participants in it to put yourself through it... So for you (and sure, I suppose there really could be one or two of you), here goes...

After reading through my recent rebuttal of his accusations, Donald obviously still doesn't get it. He's still making the exact same specious claims and accusations, and still not offering the slightest bit of proof for any of 'em...

For those not familiar, here's a partial list (the part that's germane to the post he was ostensibly replying to, that is... The racism stuff, while just as ridiculous and just as unsubstantiated, was more'n'likely added by Donald to flesh out his meager "on-topic" offering):

"stalking," "harassment," "hate," "workplace intimidation," "posting my college administration's contact information with directions to harass," "hosting commenters spiking the football after workplace contacts." He even borrows a term I've often used to describe his "ok for me, but not for thee" rationalizations, accusing me of "situational ethics," which I think is pretty funny...

As an aside, three quick examples of my using the term "situational ethics" in reference to Dr. Douglas, all from 2010:

1)"But this situational wishy-washy bullshit is just unbecoming and unmanly, and I urge you to let it go, for the sake of your reputation...",

2) "When you apply the same rules to everyone, friend and foe alike, THAT'S a standard of behavior. Whining when they did it to you, but then threatening to do it to sombody else... (Are you really going to make me get out the links in support of this, again?) That's situational ethics, Don. And situational ethics are not a core set of standards.",

3) "We're talking about having one set of standards for everyone, Donald. If I 'need' to release this info, then so does every other blogger with whom you interact. THAT's what one set of standards means... Having everyone held to the same set of laws, demands, statutes, standards... All measured with the same yardstick and weighed on the same scale... Not rules for the folks you like, and different rules for the ones you don't... THAT's situational ethics. That's moral weaseling... And that's what you're demanding."

Now search Dr Douglas' blog for the same term ever being used by him before the post I'm replying to today... Quick clue: You won't find any... I say that this is because he's playing "rubber/glue" with me like a 7 year old, and just aping back whatever I allege against him... (and as with the rest of his accusations I ask, where are his quotes or cites in support of the allegation that I engage in situational ethics? Nowhere, as usual.)... You may agree with me or you may not, but at least I show my work...)

Like I said the last time, I've never done any of it, and no matter how many times Donald Douglas repeats his off-the-wall accusations or asserts that they are "fully documented" (though strangely, never linked to, cited, or quoted verbatim by Dr. Douglas), that isn't going to change. All I can do is once again repeat what I said in the post to which Donald claims he was responding:

"I once again call on Donald Douglas to put up or shut up. Less tell and more show. If he believes I have done any of the things he regularly accuses me of, I demand that he offer evidence in support of his allegations, or admit that he has none.

Unless / until he escalates this situation (there are times when he seems to be threatening legal action, but I have not been contacted by anyone from his legal team or CA law enforcement, thus far...) I can do no more than put these facts out there, and demand that he address them with something--anything--of substance."
